HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-1991-004 y 4i RESOLUTION N0. 04-91 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE AMERICAN EFFORT TO LIBERATE KUWAIT; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the United States of America has represented life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness not only to Americans but to all people throughout this great world; and WHEREAS, the peaceful existence of the tiny country of Kuwait has been threatened by Iraq; and WHEREAS, despite the Resolutions passed by the United Nations, Iraq has refused to cease its occupation of Kuwait and "ly has shown open contempt for any initiatives offered in an attempt to reach a peaceful end to this crisis; and I 1 WHEREAS, the leader of Iraq, Saddam Hussein, has not only a 3 Irefused to withdraw his troops from Kuwait but has threatened to attack some of the neighboring countries that have vowed to resist his aggression; and WHEREAS, numerous diplomatic efforts to peacefully end this occupation have been initiated by various diplomatic organizations and all such efforts have failed; and , WHEREAS, the United States of America together with 27 other nations consisting of countries from Europe , Asia, Africa and the Arab League have banded together in an effort to show Sadaam Hussein that the world will not tolerate this form of aggression. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA: Resolution No. 04-91 i I a. v Section 1 . That the City Commissioners of the City of Dania, Florida, individually and on behalf of all our people, do hereby express their full support to President George Bush and to the American effort to liberate Kuwait. Further, they urge all our citizens to show their support to the brave men and women who are willing, if necessary, to give their lives to preserve peace, not only in their own country, but in other countries throughout the world whose people are unable to defend themselves against a barbaric transgressor. Section 3.
