RESOLUTION NO. 115-92
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA, IN
{ RECOGNITION OF THE EXEMPLARY LIFE OF NATHANIEL
LEON HANKERSON AND EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES TO
HIS FAMILY UPON HIS UNTIMELY DEATH.
WHEREAS, NATHANIEL LEON HANKERSON, a native of Barnwell,
South Carolina, and a resident of the City of Dania, died at the

untimely age of 65 on Friday, August 14 , 1992; and
WHEREAS, NATHANIEL HANKERSON lived an exemplary life as a
highly respected educator and community leader. He was known for

his intense love for and devotion to children. Anything that
would encourage a child to achieve and succeed in life was his
forte. He was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of
Piney Grove and devoted many hours in the church' s efforts to
deliver medical supplies to hospitals in Haiti, and made many
j trips to Haiti to deliver these much needed supplies, and
WHEREAS, NATHANIEL HANKERSON served as principal of Park j
Ridge Elementary School , Sabal Palm Elementary School and at
Hollywood Central School where he distinguished himself as an
outstanding educator and administrator who gained the love and
respect of all who came in contact with him; and
WHEREAS, NATHANIEL HANKERSON, in addition to his devotion to
his church and to the education of children, also found time to
serve the City of Dania as a member of several boards where he
faithfully served; and
WHEREAS, The City Commission desires to recognize this
outstanding citizen.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA:
Section 1• That the City Commissioners of the City,
individually and on behalf of all the citizens of Dania, hereby
recognizes and applauds the outstanding and exemplary life of
extend to his family their deepest
NATHANIEL LEON HANKERSON, and
sympathy in the untimely death of the dearly beloved husband,
father, son and brother.
Section 2. That a copy of this resolution be delivered to

his wife Ruthel Phillips Hankerson and to his mother, Rena Miller
Hankerson Ayers .
