RESOLUTION NO. 19-92
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA, NAMING WEST
DANIA BEACH BOULEVARD, "ISADORE MIZELL BOULEVARD"; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, ISADORE MIZELL, also known to his many friends as "Mosel'
Mizell was a highly regarded and respected citizen of the City of
Dania from the early nineteen hundreds to a few years prior to his
death which he spent in Fort Lauderdale; and
WHEREAS, ISADORE MIZELL built his own home on West Dania Beach
Boulevard where he and his wife reared a large family of well educated
children who distinguished themselves in their educational, medical
and various business pursuits; and
WHEREAS, he was a very successful farmer and when not farming
i worked as a first class carpenter consructing and remodeling many I
buildings including the first black schoolhouse and several churches,
j and
WHEREAS, ISADORE MIZELL, by his hard work and devotion to his
family, his church and our community, earned the respect and
admiration of everyone in our city who knew him. He lived an
exemplary life for which he was honored by the Broward Historical
Society several years before his death. He was a "stand-up man" in
every respect; and
WHEREAS, the City Commissioners of the City of Dania, individually
and on behalf of the citizens of Dania, desire to formally recognize
this outstanding man and his exemplary life.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
I OF DANIA, FLORIDA:
Section 1 . That in recognition of one of our most outstanding
citizens, W: t Dania Beach Boulevard be and the same is hereby
re-named and designated as "Isadore Mizell Boulevard" by which name it
shall hereinafter be known.
Section 2 . That this resolution shall be in force and take effect
immediatT ely upon its passage and adoption.
Passed and Adopted on this 11th day of February 1992.
