HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-1992-049 c M 1 RESOLUTION NO. 49-92 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA, R IN RECOGNITION OF THE CONTRIBUTIONS WRBD HAS I MADE TO THE CITIZENS OF BROWARD COUNTY; AND i PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, WRBD radio has been on the air since 1964 and is, to i date, the longest running black radio station in the south Florida area; and WHEREAS, in 1986, John Ruffin, Jr. purchased WRBD making it this area' s only black owned electronic medium; and WHEREAS, WRBD has always been a community oriented radio station and today continues to uphold that reputation by offering unprecedented service to the community; and WHEREAS, WRBD has served as the training ground for many talented announcers and radio personalities who have moved on to managerial positions in the broadcasting field nationwide; and i WHEREAS, WRBD continues its commitment by offering aspiring broadcasters, entertainers and others unique opportunities to develop their talent and showcase their abilities . NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA: Section 1 . That the City Commission of the City of Dania, in recognition of WRBD' s contributions to the citizens of Broward County, declares Friday, March 13, 1992 as a day of celebration of African-American heritage and urges all our citizens to recognize and appreciate the service WRBD has provided the citizens of Dania and south Florida. Section 2 . That this resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption. :-• PASSED and ADOPTED this 24th day of Parch 1992.
