10. ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS
j10.1 City Manager Flatley reminded the Commission and public that the Dania Posse ride is scheduled for
December 12, 1992, in search of city residents cleaning up their properties for the holidays. He mentioned fiat

1"le advised that Seacoast Sanitation will be picking up garbage the day after Christmas and the day after New
Years Day and that i%VS will pickup their following regularly scheduled day after Christmas Day and New Years
Day. A meeting has been scheduled with BSO and Meidowbrook Condominium South December 14th to
discuss security measures for the complex and that two out of three of the condo phases have signed off on die
existing drainage casements.
City Attorney Adler reported that the elections division in Tallahassee has advised him that C.K. McElyea's
suspension was only for to present term and that he is free to qualify and inn in the 93 elections. The trial has
been postponed until sometime in January.

11. COMMISSION COMMENTS
11.1 Commissioner Bertino
Commissioner Bertino questioned the status of Mr. Murotte's street vacation in die Griffin area. Will Allen
marooned that cr has spoken to the engineers on whether a 40' wide rightof-way would work in this area and he
is still awaiting a response.
11.2 Commissioner Donly
Commissioner Donly mentioned that die Dania Improvement Group had hoped to be doing a cleanup on Dania
Bcach Boulevard during the Dania Posse event but that it has to be postponed to a later date. He felt that an
historical photograph of old Dania would be appropriate for Commissioner Gunzberger's office as requested in a
recent letter and mentioned that it is Bill Brook's 86th birthday today.
11.3 Commissioner Grace
Commissioner Grace concurred with Commissioner Donly's suggestion for die historical photograph of Dania
for Commissioner Gunzbeigcr s office and that there is a need to schedule a workshop to discuss utility billing,
.j She mentioned that the Feeding the Hungry program went well of December Sth and tut additional programs
to feed the hungry are expected in the City.

11.4 Vice Mayor Mikes
Vice Mayor Mikes recommended to change over to monthly utility billing so that residents aren't billed a large I,
amount at one time. He commented on the new neighborhood signs and suggested to look into a better lease
agreement for the IBM copier at City Hall.
11.5 Mayor 1-iydc
Mayor I lyde contented on the need for extra BSO patrols to cut down on the graffiti problem at die bridge and
asked stiff to look into the trash problem on Gulfstream Road.

7. DISCUSSION
7.1 Commissioner Grace presented a request to place an ad in the memorial souvenir book for the Chester A.
Byrd Sports Center from the National Association of Floridian Club, Inc- She advised that the dedication of the
center is taking place on December 28, 1993. in Panama City, Florida where Chester Byrd was born.
A motion was made by Commissioner Bcrtino, seconded by Commissioner Donly to place a full page ad in
honor of Mayor Byrd in the amount of 5125.00.

7.2 Will Allen, Growth Management Director, presented requests for renewal of auctioneer's license for Bruce
Kodner and Sheila Gross. He advised that they have been checked out and no violations have occurred over the
past year.
A motion was made by Commissioner Bertino, seconded by Commissioner Grace to grant the approval of the
auctioneer's license for Bruce Kodner and Sheila Gross for one year.

7.3 Will Allen, Growth Management Director, presented a request for a fortuneteller/clairvoyants license for
Irene Evans, 219 North Federal Highway.
! Tony Mitchell, representing Ms. Evans, came forward to request approval.
A motion was made by Commissioner Donly, seconded by Commissioner Bcrtino to continue this license request
to the December 22nd regular meeting.

7.4 Tim Tapp, Recreation Director, advised that Chairman Bill Hill of the Marine Advisory Board was unable
to attend tonight so he presented a resolution adopted by the Marine Advisory Board on October 14, 1992. Mr.
Tapp explained that the recommendation by the board is for the City to negotiate with die county in order to

secure certain lands acquired by the county for airport purposes for the purpose of establishing a City Marine

expressing .appreciation to the Bay County School Board, Panama City, Florida, for naming the Rosenwald
Nliddle School (fornicrly Rosenwald High School) Gymnasium die Chester A. Byrd Sports Center.

PRESENTATIONS:
'Fire Administrative Report was continued to the December 22 meeting.
-BSO Presentation to Sgt. Pete Kronus
Captain Canny mentioned the recent transfer of Sgt. Kronus to Internal Affairs and gave an overview of his
career . He then presented a plaque to Sgt. Kronus from District IX expressing appreciation for his leadership
and dedication .
Captain Carney advised tlu Commission that a meeting is scheduled for December 14 with the Condominium
Presidents of Mcadowbrook Lakes to discuss better secunry for tie complex. The Toys for Tots program is
scheduled Santrday at the Thunderbird Swap Shop and tie Feeding the Hungry Program was a success at Collins
Elementary. He advised that the District IX Charlie Shift will receive the Grand Cordon Unit of die Year Award
on December 18 at the Sheraton Hotel and the Commission was encouraged to attend.

Captain Carney mentioned that an individual has been arrested in connection with numerous burglaries in tie f
jCity, the Neighborhood 2000 program removed an additional 200 cubic yards of trash and the surveys on what
BSO are expected shortly.
