City Attorney Adler presented the resolution approving and amending the Interlocal j sion and distribution of the proceeds from the Agreement from Broward County for the divi Broward County Additional Local Option Gas Tax on Motor Fuel Ordinance. Marie Jabalcc, Finance Director, explained that the agreement provides a distribution of a full cent for the County and the ability to share two cents with the Cities. Cities representing a majority of the municipal population and the County must establish by Interlocal agreement a distribution formula for dividing the proceeds of the additional local option gas tax. If no interlocal agreement is adopted, division of the revenue will be based on the State imposed default formula. The League of Cities is trying to negotiate with Broward County to allow the Cities to share in the full three cents. She stated that if the default procedure is initiated that the County will benefit and most other cities will not. jc A motion was made by Mayor Grace, seconded by Commissioner Jones to adopt the resolution approving the Interlocal Agreement. Marie was unable to confirm whether or not the City will get any funds if the City does not enter into the Interlocal Agreement. City Attorney Adler felt that this agreement is better l t I r because it was changed so that the City will now share in two cents opposed to the previous agreement for a share in one cent. Marie stated that for each penny of the tax that is shared with the cities, Dania will receive $30,000 using the population formula or $54,000 for each penny if the default formula is imposed. The County has the option of keeping one cent. It appears that if the agreement approving the population formula is accepted, the League may be able to negotiate so that the municipalities can share the three cents. _ The motion failed on the following roll call vote. Commissioner Bertino - no Commissioner Hyde - no Commissioner Jones- yes Vice Mayor Mikes - no I Mayor Grace - yes Marie clarified that the population formula is not negative to all cities and that some cities may not benefit by not approving the Interlocal Agreement.
