HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-1998-084 RESOLUTION NO. 84-98 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA, RECOGNIZING DANIA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL FOR WINNING THE 1998 GOLDEN SCHOOL AWARD FOR SEVEN CONSECUTIVE YEARS AND PROVIDING FOR (i AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Golden School Awards are presented annually to those schools that have shown a firm commitment to community involvement by their exemplary volunteer programs. WHEREAS, these awards are given by the Florida Commissioner of Education, Frank T. Brogan. WHEREAS, to qualify for this award, a school must designate a school volunteer coordinator; orient and train faculty in the effective use of volunteer services; and achieve and document volunteer hours equal to twice the student enrollment of the school. Students, parents, grandparents, etc, can volunteer their time by working with the children; reading to them and working special events. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA; Section 1. That the City Commission of the City of Dania, individually and on behalf of all the citizens of the city, do hereby recognize and congratulate Dania Eiementary School for winning the 1998 Golden School Award for the seventh consecutive year. I 1 Section 2: That this resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED on the 26th day of May, 1998.
