SUBJECT: AUTO THEFT PREVENTION GRANT FUNDS
Attached you'll find information I received from the Office of the Attorney General on the
availability of grant monies to combat auto theft. As we discussed, B.S.O. already is the recipient
of grant monies from this source so we could not qualify for funding. However, the City of Dania
could pursue this matter directly with the Attorney General's Office in the same manner in which
we pursued the D.U.I. grant.
The attached packet includes all the necessary application forms and instructions would like to
recommend that we discuss this matter with the City of Dania and explore ways to go after
funding for our auto theft prevention efforts.

Re: Florida Motor Vehicle Theft Prevention Authority Funding
I recommend that the City apply for $50,000 in funding from the Florida Motor
Vehicle Theft Prevention Authority. In conversations with Broward Sheriffs
Office, District II, we determined that the best and most efficient use of funds
would be for the following:
Decoy Operations
Auto Theft Prevention Rallies
The purchase of one or two Mobile Data Terminal for patrol cars
VIN Etching
Literature
Training
The application will be submitted for the April 15 deadline. There is no matching
1 requirement for this grant.
