HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-1997-97-R-09 ORDINANCE NO. 09-97 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA, REZONING THE FOLLOWING DESCRIBED LANDS TO-WIT: LOTS 1 THROUGH 5 AND 8 OF BLOCK 27, 'TOWN OF MODELO", ACORDING TO THE PLAT THEREOF AS RECORDED IN PLAT BOOK "B", PAGE 49, OF THE PUBLIC RECORDS OF DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, SAID LANDS SITUATE, LYING AND BEING IN THE CITY OF DANIA, BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA FROM PRESENT ZONING CLASSIFICATION OF RD-6000 TO A ZONING CLASSIFICATION OF C-3, UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF ORDINANCE NO. 100 OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED; PROVIDING THAT ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES AND ALL RESOLUTIONS OR PARTS OF RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH BE REPEALED TO THE EXTENT OF SUCH CONFLICT; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the following described land situate, lying and being in Broward County, Florida, to-wit: LOTS 1 THROUGH 5 AND 8 OF BLOCK 27, 'TOWN OF MODELO", ACORDING TO THE PLAT THEREOF AS RECORDED IN PLAT BOOK "B", PAGE 49, OF THE PUBLIC RECORDS OF DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, SAID LANDS SITUATE, LYING AND BEING IN THE CITY OF DANIA, BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA be and the same is hereby rezoned from the present zoning of RD-6000 to a zoning classification of C-3 , as defined under Ordinance No. 100 of the City of Dania, Florida, as amended. Section 2_ That all ordinances or parts of ordinances and all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its final passage and adoption. RESOLUTION NO. 09-97 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA, IN RECOGNITION OF FIRE CHIEF THOMAS D. GRAMMER ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Tom Grammer joined the City of Dania Fire Department in 1962 as a volunteer firefighter; and WHEREAS, after a tour of duty with the U.S. Army he returned to the department becoming a paid firefighter in 1972; and WHEREAS, Tom achieved the position of emergency medical technician in 1973 and rose through the ranks to become deputy chief in 1982 and fire chief in 1985, which position he has held to the present time; and WHEREAS, Tom's foresight in recognizing that advancing education in fire prevention together with a multi-media society contributed greatly to diminish the incidences of accidental fires; and WHEREAS, he also had the insight to realize that the wave of the future would lead toward fire department personnel being cross-trained in both firefighting skills and medical techniques; and WHEREAS, because of this foresight and due to his efforts, the City of Dania Fire/Rescue Department has become the premier firelrescue department in Broward County yid one of the best in the State of Florida; and WHEREAS, under his leadership and as a direct result of the caliber of personnel he has been instrumental in procuring, the lives of many citizens have been saved; and WHEREAS, Tom will be remembered not only for his contributions to our city, but also for the high standard of performance he expected not only from his personnel but also demanded of himself; and WHEREAS, the members of his department will miss him not only for his leadership but for the fair and impartial way in which he approached personnel decisions brought before him in his capacity as fire chief. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the City Commissioners of the City of Dania, individually and on behalf of all its citizens, hereby recognize Thomas D. Grammer for his many contributions to the citizens of our city during his service in the fire/rescue field and acknowledge that his foresight in recognizing the importance of firefighting abilities as well as medical care has saved countless lives of our citizens. Section 2. That this resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
