CITY OF DANIA BEACH ~
FIRE DEPARTMENT
INTER-OFFICE MEMORANDUM
TO: Michael W. Smith, City Manager
FROM: Michael L. Brown, Deputy Fire Chi
RE: Communications Contract with Hollywood
DATE: January 4, 1999
Attached hereto for your consideration and submission to the city commission for
approval is form of contract with the City of Hollywood relating to our communications
dispatch system.
This contract covers the same services as in the past, however it is more beneficial to
the City of Dania Beach in that it can only be increased 5% per year (not 10% as has
occurred in the past) and can be terminated with a sixty (60) day notice. Over the past
twelve months Chief Land and I have explored the department's options and feel at this
time that Hollywood provides the most comprehensive and proficient communications
system. However, when changes occur within Broward County's communications
system, or if other regional systems become available, we will immediately explore
those options and come back to you with our recommendations. The sixty day
cancellation provision provides us that latitude.
Should this contract meet with your approval, it will be appreciated if you will please
place it on the agenda for the next regular city commission meeting.
If you have any questions relating to the foregoing, please do not hesitate to contact
me.
