L s r 7 7 RESOLUTION NO. 37-99 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA RESPECTFULLY REQUESTING THAT THE CITY OF FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY AND REASONABLE TO 1) KEEP THE BALTIMORE ORIOLES SPRING TRAINING CAMP IN FORT LAUDERDALE AND 2) PREVENT THE DESTRUCTION OF FORT LAUDERDALE STADIUM; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the presence of the Baltimore Orioles for their spring training has been an attraction for young and old who enjoy watching the games; and WHEREAS, their presence is an economic benefit to the cities of Broward County; and WHEREAS, Fort Lauderdale Stadium has been part of this area's history since 1962; and WHEREAS, the stadium should be kept as an historical monument to the teams that have camped and played there. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1: That the Dania Beach City Commission does hereby respectfully request the political leaders of the City of Fort Lauderdale to request, urge and do all things reasonable to 1) retain the Baltimore Orioles Spring Camp and 2) realize the stadium's historical significance and prevent it's destruction. Section 2: That copies of this Resolution be sent to members of the Fort Lauderdale City Commission, The Broward League of Cities, and the Council/Commission of each City within Broward County. Section 3: That this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
