ORDINANCE NO. 12-99
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA
APPROVING THE REZONING REQUEST BY MICHAEL THOMAS,
REPRESENTING R. K. COMPANIES / DONNA KRILICH, FOR
PROPERTY LOCATED AT SW 1ST STREET AND SW 18T" AVE. WITHIN
THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, AND LEGALLY DESCRIBED
IN EXHIBIT "A", A COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED TO THIS
ORDINANCE; CHANGING THE CURRENT ZONING CLASSIFICATION
OF THE PROPERTY FROM R-2 (RESIDENTIAL) TO THE
CLASSIFICATION OF C-2 (COMMERCIAL), SUBJECT TO CERTAIN
RESTRICTIONS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; FURTHER,
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA
BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the rezoning request filed by Leigh R. Kerr, AICP,
representing R. K. Companies / Donna Krilich, for property located at SW I" Street and
SW 18tb Avenune, legally described in Exhibit "A", a copy of which is attached to this
ordinance and which is located within the City of Dania Beach, Florida, is granted and
the property is rezoned from its present zoning classification of R-2 (Residential) to C-2
(Commercial) zoning classification.
Section 2. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the
provisions of this ordinance are repealed.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall take effect upon the recording and filing of
the document identified above in the Broward County Pubilc Records.

Reading
Date: May 18, 1999
This is the Second Reading of an Ordinance to rezone property from R-2
residential to C-2 Commercial. The property is located to the north of Stirling Road and
to the east of the Springhill Suites Hotel. The applicant is proposing to build an
additional hotel, a conference center and restaurant on the overall site.
The Planning and Zoning Board reviewed this request at their April Meeting.
They are recommending that the City Commission approve this request on Second
Reading. Staff supports this recommendation.

surrounding zoning in the area. The present land use for the property is Commercial and
the present zoning is not in conformity with the Land Use Plan. The proposed rezoning to

Please take notice that a public hearing will be held before the City Commission of the City of Dania
Beach, Florida, on May 25, 1999, at 7:30 p.m., Or as soon thereafter as possible, in the City
Commission room, Administrative Center, 100 West Dania Beach Blvd., Dania Beach, Florida 33004,
for the purpose of hearing any objections which might be made to a rezoning application, as follows:
RZ-20-99 — Request by Leigh R. Kerr, AICP, representing R. K. Companies / Donna Krilich to rezone
property located at SW I" Street and SW 18" Ave. from R-2 Residential to C-2 Commercial in
conjunction with the proposed Hotel, Conference Center and Restaurant development, site plan SP-
21-99.

Copies of the proposal are available for viewing and purchase in the Growth Management
Department, 100 West Dania Beach Blvd., Dania, Florida between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00
p.m., Monday - Friday. Interested parties may appear at the public hearing and be heard with
respect to the proposed ordinance.
Any person who decides to appeal any decision made by the City Commission with regard to any
matter considered at this meeting or hearing will need a record of the proceedings, and for such
purpose may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made which includes the
testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
