Home My WebLink AboutR-1999-2326r r 7 ., O f -r E RESOLUTION NO. 232-99 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE SELF- CONTAINED BREATHING APPARATUS FROM SCOTT SAFETY EQUIPMENT COMPANY FOR THE FIRE RESCUE DEPARTMENT AT A COST OF $60,440.70; PROVIDING THAT THE SELF-CONTAINED BREATHING APPARATUS BE PURCHASED FROM SCOTT SAFETY EQUIPMENT COMPANY, SOLE SOURCE PROVIDER, WITHOUT COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND WITHOUT ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Dania Beach, Part III, Article 3, Section 4, Subsection (J), the city commission may, during unusual conditions or emergencies, by resolution, authorize the purchase by the city manager of designated supplies, services, equipment and materials in amounts in excess of Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15,000.00) without competitive bids and without advertising for bids; and WHEREAS, the city manager has determined that it is necessary to purchase Self- contained Breathing Apparatus for use by the Fire Rescue Department from from Scott Safety Equipment Company, 1100 Meadow Walk Avenue, Lawrenceville, GA 33044- 2789, the sole source provider of said equipment; and WHEREAS, the city manager has determined that such purchase can be made at the least cost to the city by purchasing said equipment from Scott Safety Equipment Company, sole source provider, in the amount of$60,440.70; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the city manager is hereby authorized to pay from the Fire Department Budget the sum of Sixty Thousand Four Hundred Forty and 70/100 dollars ($60,440.70) to Scott Safety Equipment Company for Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus equipment for use in the Fire Rescue Department. 1 RESOLUTION NO. 232-99 f . Smith, Ci Ma er FROM: Kenneth Land, iref�f RE: Propo I f rchase of Scott Self-contained Breathing Apparatus DATE: Octobef 28, 1999 The Dania Beach Fire-Rescue Department is in the process of replacing its outdated MSA self-contained breathing equipment with the OSHA and NFPA compliant Scott self-contained breathing equipment. Safety Equipment Company is the sole source provider for this area. (See letter attached.) Funding for the purchase of this equipment was approved in the 1999/2000 fiscal year budget and, because we are changing the manufacturer from whom we have previously obtained this type of equipment, Scott has offered us several incentives which make our purchase price quite a bit less than that paid by other cities, i.e. Hollywood. As noted on the Quotation attached hereto, we are purchasing the following equipment: • 24 -45 min. carbon cylinders @ $2,204.85 each (incl. harness, regulator& mask) • 26 comfort seal full FCPC (facemasks) @ $150.55 each • 4 cylinder/valve assy., Garb. 45 min. (air cylinders) with quick connect @ $733.75 each • 3 amplifiers @ $225.00 each for a total of$60,440.70. In addition to the foregoing, we are also receiving the following incentives at no charge: • Ten (10) free air cylinders (@ $733.75 each) • Three (3) free face masks (@ $150.55 each) • Free training for all three shifts • Free in-service field training for minor repairs • Local vendor accessibility • Availability of local repair service If the foregoing meets with your approval, it will be appreciated if you will please have this item placed on the agenda for the November 9, 1999, regular city commission meeting.
