HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2021-149 Broward MPO Commitment 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) Withdrawal of Support of C-10 Canal Bridge ProjectRESOLUTION NO.2021-149 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, RECOMMENDING WITHDRAWAL OF THE CITY' S SUPPORT OF ONE PROJECT FROM THE BROWARD COUNTY METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION' S ("MPO") COMMITMENT TO THE 2045 METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION PLAN (MTP) AS IT RELATES TO A WEST DANIA BEACH BOULEVARD BRIDGE PROJECT PROPOSED TO CROSS OVER THE C-10 CANAL; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization ("MPO") in the 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan ("MTP") - Affordable and Unfunded Roadway Transportation Plan Projects List has identified projects within the City of Dania Beach ("City"); and WHEREAS, Resolution 2019-102 supported the City of Dania Beach's projects included in the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization's Commitment 2045 MTP; and WHEREAS, the MPO approved the Commitment 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan ("MTP") Cost Feasible Plan on December 12, 2019; and WHEREAS, on August 24, 2021, the City Commission approved Resolution No.: 2021- 120, which supported the MPO's "Complete Streets and other Localized Initiatives Program ("CSLIP"), and adhered to the federal "Local Agency Program" ("LAP") but reserved judgment on the City's MPO project approved for a bridge over the C-10 Canal; and WHEREAS, after further discussion and exploration, the City Commission withdraws support for the MPO bridge project previously approved for a West Dania Beach Boulevard bridge over the C-10 Canal in 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and they are made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2. That the City Commission no longer supports the 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan project for a West Dania Beach Boulevard bridge project across the C-10 Canal and requests that the project be removed from the 2045 MPO Metropolitan Transportation Plan Cost Feasible Plan and directs the City Manager to inform the MPO of same. The City Commission also directs the City Manager to inform the MPO and Broward County Mobility Advancement Program Administration to remove funding consideration of the project identified as DANI-001, West Dania Beach Boulevard Bridge. Section 3. That the City Manager is authorized to do all that is necessary and expedient in order to carry out the aims of this Resolution. Section 4. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 5. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
