5. Reports and Discussion
5.1 Chairman Report
Chairman Clive Taylor advised that he would be attending the Broward Marine Advisory
Committee Meeting on February 7, 2008. They will start granting "EMLEG" (Enhanced
Marine Law Enforcement Grant) for marine law enforcement for all cities.
Colin Donnelly, Assistant City Manager, will also be attending the Broward Marine
Advisory Committee Meeting to get approval for the solar lighting at Griffin Marine
Park.
5.2 Griffin Marine Park Update—Colin Donnelly, Assistant City Manager
Assistant City Manager Donnelly was not present at this meeting.
5.3 Marina Update —Captain Jay Jackson, Dockmaster
Captain Jackson advised they were getting ready to move into the office at the Marina
and that he is waiting for a Certificate of Occupancy. He stated that the Marina will have
restrooms with both hot and cold showers, and public restrooms, all of which are ADA
approved.
The fence that was installed at the Marina will operate with a magnetic pass card instead
of a combination lock for security purposes. The gate will be locked after 4:00 p.m.
Members of the Board were pleased with the fence, and that one of our renters owns a
fence company and was able to give us a picket style fence at the cost of a chain link
fence.
Captain Jackson noted he submitted a report on the Floating Docks at the Marina to
Assistant City Manager Donnelly, as they would be more economical than a fixed wood
dock. The service life would be 25 years, rather than 15 years with a fixed wood dock,
and would also increase dockage by 30%. We will use a majority of the pilings that are
in place as they are still in structurally sound condition.
5.4 Derelict Vessel Report—Deputy Jason Riddle—BSO
Deputy Riddle advised that the grant for $88,500 that was awarded to cover derelict and
barge problems has been executed by BSO and forwarded to the State for execution. It is
undecided as to whether or not the bid process will be used for the removal of derelict
vessels.
6. Old Business
There was no old business to discuss at this meeting.
7. New Business
Chairman Taylor stated for the record that they need someone to transcribe minutes for the
Board as Suzanne Witz is no longer able to do so.
Chairman Taylor noted there have been some members that have been absent from Board
Meetings for over three (3) months. One of them is Tom Grace, and according to City Policy,
any person with three(3) unexcused absences shall automatically be removed from the Board.

8. Board Member Comments
Louis Webb confirmed that he had withdrawn his suggestion regarding the traffic flow at the
ramp located at Griffin Road and 30t" Avenue. Discussion took place regarding the Cape Fear
Housing Project. A garden was built in the center of the parking islands making it difficult for
trailers longer than 30' to get in there without running over one of the curbs.
Board Members commended Deputy Riddle with his efforts on the side canals.
9. Adiournment
Chairman Taylor adjourned the meeting at 6:30 p.m.
