HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2008-095 Clare Vickery Supergraphic Sign RESOLUTION NO. 2008-095 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE REQUEST FOR AN ADMINISTRATIVE APPEAL (AA-44-08), SUBMITTED BY OWNER/ APPLICANT CLARE VICKERY (GRACE CAFE) FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT 47-49 NORTH FEDERAL HIGHWAY,DANIA BEACH; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Chapter 28, "Zoning", of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Dania Beach, Florida, Article 28, "Signs", Section 28.210 "Super-graphic Signs", allows the Community Development Director to approve a"super-graphic"if it meets the eight(8)criteria identified in the City Code as follows: 1) The proposed general design,arrangement,texture,material,colors, lighting,placement and the appropriateness of the proposed sign in relationship to other signs and the other structures both on the premises and in the surrounding areas, and only approve signs which are consistent with the intent,purposes, standards and criteria of the sign regulations. 2) The number of items (scenes, symbols, shapes) shall be consistent with the amount of information which can be comprehended by the viewer and avoid visual clutter. 3) The shape of the sign shall not create visual clutter. 4) The size, style and location of the sign shall be appropriate to the activity of the message. 5) The sign shall complement the building and adjacent buildings by being designed and placed to enhance the architecture. 6) The sign should be consolidated into a minimum number of elements. 7) The sign shall be proportional to the size and scale of the building upon which it is placed. 8) The decision to grant permission for a super-graphics sign shall not be based on the viewpoint or content of the proposed sign. and; WHEREAS, Clare Vickery owner/applicant of property located at 47-49 North Federal Highway(Grace Cafd),Dania Beach,has requested approval of a proposed"super-graphic"that does not meet all of the eight (8) criteria listed; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That that certain application AA-44-08 dated May 22, 2008, for approval of the proposed super-graphic, a copy of which application is attached and made a part of this Resolution as Exhibit "A", is approved. Section 2. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution are repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 3.
