Byrd Commissioners: Jean Cook James Adams Robert Donly City Attorney: Frank Adler City Manager: Richard Marant City Clerk: Wanda Mullikin s ?: Assistant City Attorney Earl Gallop briefly informed the Commission , that the Broward County Commission has approved the agreements with the City concerning the Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport expansion project and that they will proceed with the withdrawal of the Appeal . (Item H2 1. Discusion of letter from Constance W. Hoffman City Manager. of Fort ',on agenda) Lauderdale concerning a sludge plant. Fort Lauderdale City Engineer William Mehner stepped forward to explain the type of sludge plant operation that Fort Lauderdale would like to construct on Taylor Road in Dania. He assured the Commission that this process would be self contained and omit no odors. Fort Lauderdale City Commissioner John Rodstrom Jr. , added that For Lauderdale is considering purchasing 12 acres on Taylor Road near Port Everglades for this plant and added that the location would be less costly than one being built west in unincorporated Broward. After further discussion, the Commission informed the Ft. Lauderdale Officials that this Commission will continue to oppose any construction of a sludge plant within the Dania city limits. (Item N1 2. Preliminary discussions of 1982-83 budget. on agenda) City Manager Marant informed the Commission that with the signing of the agreements with the County on the airport expansion project, there will now be some $70,000.00 placed in the Contingency Fund due to the County taking over the Social Services Center. Mr. Marant then encouraged the Commission to review the preliminary budget and to inform him of any changes they would like to make towards a final budget. , t Commissioner Byrd suggested that there be monies allocated in the budget for improvements to the different blighted areas of the City. After further discussion concerning ad valorem tax , a motion was made ? by Commissioner Byrd, seconded by Commi er to adjourn this meeting.
