SPECIAL MEETING
DANIA CITY COMMISSION
SEPTEMBER 1, 1982

1, Award of Health/Life Insurance contract to Medical Insurance
Administrators Inc. , as Third Party Administrator.
Mr. Dave Adams and Mr. Richard Misner from Medical Insurance Admini-
strators informed the Commission that copies of their services con-
tract and Lloyds contract were submitted to Personnel and that a
preliminary benefit booklet has been prepared in rough draft.
The Commission reviewed with Mr. Adams and Mr. Misner the pro-
cedures that would be implemented in carrying out claims.through
Medical •Insurance Administrators, Inc.
After lengthy discussion, it was determined that exact wording ex-
plaining the City's present coverage under Florida Municipal would
be obtained for clarification so that there will be no change in
benefits with the change over to Self Insurance through Medical
Insurance Administrators, Inc.
The Commission also determined that Medical Insurance Administra-
tors would prepare checks for claims and that they would be mailed
to the City for signatures (Any two signatures from City Manager,
City Clerk, or Mayor) and distribution to employees.
A motion was made by Commissioner Donly, seconded by Commissioner
Adams to approve the S61f Insurance program through Medical
Insurance Administrators as submitted and that a final document
will be prepared and brought back tothe Commissionifor: final .:
approval .
The motion passed on the following roll call vote:
Commissioner Adams-yes Commissioner Donly-yes
Commissioner Byrd-yes Mayor Bertino-yes
2. Request by Meadowbrook Square to display banners during Labor Day
Weekend.
Mr. Fred Martell representing Meadowbrook Square requested permission
to put up red, white, and blue penants running from the buildings to
the lights in the parking lot, as well as, two welcome banners at the
entrance to the shopping center.
A motion was made by Commissioner Byrd, seconded by Commissioner Donly
to grant the request by Meadowbrook Square for a period of 30 days.
The motion passed unanimously.
A motion was made by Commissioner Donly, seconded by ommissioner Adams
to adjourn this meeting. The motion passed u ou y.
