A motion was made by Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner
Donly to approve the consent agenda with the exception of item 1 .6.
Items 1.8 and 1 .9 were pulled from the consent agenda.
The motion was passed unanimously.

1 .9 PUBLIC HEARING
An Ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DANIA,
FLORIDA, REZONING THE FOLLOWING DESCRIBED LANDS, TO WIT:
BLOCK 8, PLAT BOOK 30, PAGE 20 OF THE PUBLIC RECORDS OF
BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, LESS THE EAST 10.0 FEET THEREOF
FOR COUNTY ROAD PURPOSES; FROM EXISTING ZONING CLASSIFICA-
TION OF S-1 TO I-G ZONING CLASSIFICATION UNDER THE PROVISIONS
OF ORDINANCE NO. 100 OF THE CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA, AS SUB-
SEQUENTLY AMENDED" was read for second and final reading by
Mayor Byrd.
Mayor Byrd opened the public hearing. Hearing no one speak
in favor or opposition, the Mayor closed the public hearing.
A motion was made by Commissioner Donly, seconded by
Commissioner Adams to adopt the Ordinance rezoning Block 8,
Plat Book 30, Page 20 from S-1 to I-G on second and final
reading.
The motion passed on the following roll call vote:

Commissioner Cook-yes Mayor Byrd-yes

1.6 Approval of addendum to water and sewer agreement between
Marvin I. Danto and Betty J. Danto and the City of Dania
City Attorney Adler reviewed his proposed amendments to the
subject addendum as submitted by the Design Center of the
Americas. He also described several insertions of language
that had inadvertently been omitted from the original sewer
and water agreement.
After discussion with Jerry Knight, attorney for the Dantos,
City Attorney Adler volunteered to draw up a draft of one
document which would incorporate all the changes in both the
original agreement and addendum thereto.
A motion was made by Commissioner Donly, seconded by Vice-
Mayor Bertino to continue approval of addendum to water and
sewer agreement between Marvin I. Danto and Betty J. Danto
and the City of Dania to the next Regular Meeting on June
28, 1983.
The motion was passed unanimously.
2. BIDS
2.1 Receipt of bids for miscellaneous office equipment declared
surplus
City Manager Marant declared that he had received no bids
for the surplus office equipment and requested permission
to hold an auction.
A motion was made by Vice-Mayor Bertino, seconded by
Commissioner Cook to empower the City Manager to auction off
the surplus miscellaneous office equipment..
The motion was passed unanimously.

3. OCCUPATIONAL LICENSES
3.1 Rogers Fireworks Co. , 1 South Federal Highway & 1904
Stirling Road.
Jim Rogers stepped forward to request approval of an occupa-
tional license for the sale of fireworks at the two designated
addresses from June 20, 1983 to July 4, 1983, for Rogers
Fireworks Co.
A motion was made by Commissioner Donly, seconded by Commis-
sioner Cook to approve the occupational license for Rogers
Fireworks Co. to sell fireworks at 1 South Federal Highway
and 1904 Stirling Road from June 20th to July 4th, 1983,
providing all City requirements are met.
The motion passed with Vice-Mayor Bertino voting no.
4. PUBLIC HEARINGS
Variances
4.1 PZ-27-83, Broward County Board of County Commissioners, North
Federal Highway, Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport
Terry Jenkins stepped forward to request approval of a variation
of landscape placement by eliminating the interior landscape
requirements and redistributing to the exterior boundaries. He
also requested allowance of parking spaces 9' x 18' instead of
the required 10' x 20' parking space size.
Mayor Byrd opened the public hearing. After discussion with a
concerned citizen, the Mayor closed the public hearing.
Vice-Mayor Bertino then asked the County Representative if
Broward County intends to de-annex the subject property from
the City of Dania and was assured by Terry Jenkins that he is
unaware of any such intention.
A motion was made by Vice-Mayor Bertino, seconded by Commissioner
Donly to approve the variance request by the Broward County Board
of County Commissioners. The motion passed on the following
roll call vote:

Special Exceptions
4.2 PZ-28-83, Frank M. Lopes d/b/a B & L Motors of Dania, 324 SW 4th
Court
Frank M. Lopes stepped forward to request a special exception
at 324 S.W. 4th Ct. to allow automotive repairs in an enclosed
structure in an I-R (industrial, restricted) zoning classification.
Mayor Byrd opened the public hearing. Hearing no one speak in
favor or opposition, the Mayor closed the public hearing.
A motion was made by Vice-Mayor Bertino, seconded by Commissioner
Adams to grant approval of the special exception request by
Frank M. Lopes. The motion passed on the following roll call vote:

5. DISCUSSION
5.1 First reading of Ordinance rezoning a parcel of land in Section
27, Township 50 South, Range 42 East (Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood
International Airport)
City Attorney Adler read the title of an Ordinance rezoning a
parcel of land in Section 27, Township 50 South, Range 42 East
from existing zoning classification of I-G to C-4 zoning
classification under the provisions of Ordinance No. 100 of
the City of Dania, Florida, as subsequently amended for first
reading.
During discussion, it was determined that the request by the
Broward County Board of County Commissioners to rezone the parcel
of land East of US-1 from industrial to commercial to allow the
construction of Auto Rental facilities Will use approximately 7%
of the 20% allowable change in flexibility zone #79 of the Land
Use Plan.
A motion was made by Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner
Donly to adopt the Ordinance rezoning a parcel of land in Section
27, Township 50 South, Range 42 East from existing zoning
classification of I-G to C-4 zoning classification on first
4 reading.

5.2 Appointment of members to the Dania Industrial Board
Each appointee to the Dania Industrial Advisory Board was introduced
by the respective Commissioner as follows:
Commissioner Adams: Howard Hirsch
Commissioner Cook: Morris Schockett
Commissioner Donly: Hugo Renda

Mayor Byrd: Linda Chateau
A motion was made by Vice-Mayor Bertino, seconded by Commissioner
Cook to adopt a Resolution naming Howard Hirsch, Morris Schockett,
Hugo Renda, Jack Bradley and Linda Chateau to the Dania Industrial
Advisory Board to serve until the next General Election in March,
1985.

} 5.3 Appointment of member to General Employees' Pension Board
City Manager Marant explained that a citizen appointment to the
sP General Employees' Pension Board is necessary to replace Harold
Schank, whose term of office on the Board expftes:on..June 23, 1983.
A motion was made by Commissioner Cook, seconded by Vice-Mayor
' Bertino to reagenda the appointment of a member to the General
Employees' Pension Board to the next General Meeting on June 28,
1983.
The motion was passed unanimously.

5.4 Request for site plan approval by Broward County Board of County
Commissioners for a portion of the new terminal expansion at the
Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport
Terry Jenkins described the site plan in detail for the Commission.
A motion was made by Vice-Mayor Bertino, seconded by Commissioner
Donly to approve the site plan for a portion of the new terminal
expansion at the Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport
as presented by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners.
The motion was passed unanimously.
5.5 Request for site plan approval.by McLaughlin Engineering Company
for the proposed plat of "Transworld Plat" lying north of Dania
Cut-off Canal and located at 795 Taylor Road
Bob McLaughlin stepped forward and requested approval of the site
plan for the proposed plat of "Transworld Plat" having followed
the recommendations of the Planning & Zoning Board to meet all
City requirements.
A motion was made by Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner
Donly to approve the site plan for the proposed plat of "Transworld
Plat" lying north of Dania Cut-off Canal and located at 795 Taylor
Road provided that no external sound systems will be installed on
said parcel of property.
The motion passed on the following roll call vote:

6. CITIZENS' COMMENTS
Bob Mikes stepped forward and voiced his objection to properties
subject to rezoning being identified only by lengthy legal descriptions
and suggested that an address be included for the benefit of citizens.
A woman complained that the Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport
land does not formally acknowledge that it is located in Dania. She was
informed that the County has agreed that a sign will be placed at the
Airport reading "Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Dania".
Morris Schockett, a resident of the Danians, spoke in reference to the
noise and pollution that could be caused by the proposed AlA Corridor.
7. ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS
7.1 City Manager
City Manager Marant, in accordance with the Division of Regional
Impact process and State law, read the Notice of Public Hearing
for the Design Center of the Americas\to be held at the City Commission
Meeting Room, City Hall , on August 23, 1983, at 8:15 p.m.
7.2 City Attorney
No comment.
8. COMMISSION COMMENTS
8.1 Commissioner Adams - no comment.
8.2 Commissioner Cook commended Patrolman Vince Marlin on receiving
the Officer of the Year Award from the American Legion.

8.3 Commissioner Donly, as Public Safety Commissioner, representing
the Dania Police Department, presented a merit award to Pete
Prossic in recognition of outstanding community service.
8.4 Vice-Mayor Bertino congratulated Keith Kaplan on receiving the
American Legion School Award for leadership, scholarship and
patriotism at the Dania Elementary School .
Vice-Mayor Bertino also expressed his disappointment with
reference to the passing of the Cable TV Bill , which takes
control of cable TV away from the Municipalities and places
it under Federal regulation.
8.5 Mayor Byrd announced the proclamation of June 25th as Crime
Stoppers Day.
Mayor Byrd also announced the proclamation of June 12th as
Race Unity Day.
A motion was made and seconded to adjourn. The motion passed
unanimously.
