HomeMy WebLinkAbout86103 - MINUTES - City Commission MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING, CITY COMMISSION, CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA, HELD NOVEMBER 9, 1965. The City Commission of the City.of Dania, Florida, met in Special Session in the Commission Room at the City Hall. Present were: MAYOR-COMMISSIONER FRANK SALVINO COMMISSIONERS ROBERT GRAMMER VERA L. HILL S.. ELLIS YOUNG CARL ZENOBIA CITY ATTORNEY CLARKE WALDEN. - CITY. MANAGER TONYSALVINO ' CHIEF OF POLICE MONTIE SMITH BUILDING INSPECTOR CHARLES LINDEMAN CITY CLERK MARY THORNHILL The meeting was called to order at 12:00 noon', by Mayor Salvino. Mayor Salvino asked if there was any old business to bring up. There was none. A motion was made by Commissioner. Young that the meeting be adjourned sine-die. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Grammer, and the roll being called, the Commissioners voted as follows: Grammer Yes Hill Yes Young Yes Zenobia Yes Salvino Yes Mayor Salvino called the meeting to order for the purpose of electing a Mayor. At this time Attorney Walden administered the Oath of Office to James G. Adams and Gus Brice, newly•.elected commissioners.. A motion was made by Commissioner Young,to nominate James G `Adams Mayor, City of Dania. The motion was seconded'by Commissioner'. Zenobia, and the roll being,called, the .Commissioners.voted;.as follows: Brice , Yes Young; Yes Zenobia- Yes Adams Yes Salvino Yes At this time Mayor Adams took the chair and asked for nominations . . for Vice Mayor. A motion was made by Commissioner Zenobia to .nominate Gus Brice as Vice Mayor for the"coming year. .The motion was seconded by Commis sinner Salvino, and; the roll being called; the Commissioners voted as follows; " Y Brice Pass Salvino Yes Young Yes Zenobia Yes Adams Yes , Mayor Adams: If it is the pleasure of the Commission,. we.will go into the appointment of the Committees. ` -1- �yv Mayor Adams read the list of Committees as follows: POLICE E FIRE: JAMES G. ADAMS, CHAIRMAN FRANK SALVINO S. ELLIS YOUNG FINANCE: S. ELLIS YOUNG, CHAIRMAN GUS S. BRICE JAMES G. ADAMS STREETS: CARL ZENOBIA, CHAIRMAN GUS S. BRICE FRANK SALVINO PARKS, BEACH, E RECREATION FRANK SALVINO, CHAIRMAN CARL ZENOBIA JAMES G. ADAMS UTILITIES: GUS S. BRICE, CHAIRMAN S. ELLIS YOUNG CARL ZENOBIA x A motion was made by Commissioner Zenobia that all the Committees be approved as read. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Salvino, and the roll being called, the Commissioners voted as follows: Brice Yes G, Salvino Yes Young Yes Zenobia Yes Adams Yes " Mayor Adams stated that, on the appointment of the Zoning Board, they wished to pass it tonight and bring it up at the next regular meeting. Mayor Adams presented appointments to various boards as follows: GENERAL CONTRACTOR1S BOARD: Jake Crouch Harry Hillard Roger Charest Dan Foley Peter Broome PLUMBERS BOARD: Warren;Blust - Eddie .Cornelius . William Koerner ELECTRICAL BOARD: Terry Bruton Groover Parsons Robert LaCroix A motion was made by Commissioner Brice to accept the appointments as read. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Young, and the roll being called, the Commissioners voted as follows: Brice Yes Salvino Yes Young Yes Zenobia Yes Y<: Adams Yes �' -2- Mayor Adams presented reappointments of Departmenti Heads as follows CITY MANAGER, TONY SALVING CHIEF OF POLICE, MONTIE SMITH CITY CLERK, MARY THORNHILL DEPUTY CITY CLERK,, DONNA RUMFELT FIRE CHIEF, JOHN 1ASSITER., MUNICIPAL JUDGE, A.. M. BLACK BUILDING INSPECTOR, CHARLES LINDEMAN SUPERINTENDANT OF WATERi ALVA PETERS' CITY ATTORNEY, CLARKE WALDEN A motion was made by Commissioner 'Young to adopt and pass a resolution'- reappointing Department Heads named above, at the salary that they are . presently receiving. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Zenobia, and the roll being called, the Commissioners voted as follows: Brice Yes Salvino , :- • Yes . . Young Yes Zenobia Yes Adams Yes The department heads present individually thanked the Commission for the reappointments. Mayor Adams thanked the Commission fox electing him Mayor,. and promised to endeavor to do his utmost to fulfill the confidence that•they placed,_ in him. He then thanked the people who, elected him to this office. Boisy Waiters was presented and congratulated the Mayor and Vice Mayor on their appointments, and�promised: to join them in trying to make a. more profitable City.
