The City Commission of the Cify of Dania, Florida, met in Special Session in the Commission Room at the�,City Hall. • Present were: MAYOR-OOMMISSIONER VERA L. HILL COMMISSIONERS R. L. GRAMMER VIRGIL L. TARPLEY JOSEPH D. THORNTON S. ELLIS YOUNG CITY ATTORNEY CLARKE WALDEN ' CITY MANAGER LESTER E: CULVERSON CITY CLERK MARY THORNHILL The meeting was called to order -at 7:30 P.M. by Mayor Hill. Proposals for Lime Contract: City Manager Culverson presented proposals as follows: BROWARD GRAIN COMPANYi' $23.85 per ton SOUTHERN CEMENT COMPANY $23.86 per ton LONGVIEW LIME COMPANY $23.95 per ton CHENEY LIME & CEMENT COMPANY $23.86 per ton A motion was made by Commissioner Thornton to acdept the Broward Grain Company proposal of $23.85 per ton�. freight included. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Young, and the roll being balled, the Commissioners voted as follows: Grammer Yes Tarpley Yes Thornton Yea' Young Yes Hill Yes City Manager Culverson read a letter as follows: "Florida Electric Service Company, City of Dania, Dania City Hall, Dania, Florida. We hereby propose to furnish and install two, type 3, 35 foot concrete poles, with 2 luminaries eaclr; on 8': foot brackets, in the City Hall parking lot. All work will be done in a neat workmanlike manner, and guaran- teed for .a. period of one year, .for the sum of $1,280.00. Florida Electric Service" A motion was made by Commissioner Grammer to award this contract to the Florida Electric Service Company. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Tarpley, and the roll being called, the Commiss- ioners voted as follows: Grammer Yes Tarpley Yea Thornton Yes Young Yes Hill Yea Mayor Hill read a letter as follows: "I, Arthur R. Mielke, ask the City of Dania, Florida to void my lease on the Dania Pier, by June 10, 1964' I will take an inventory complete, and will give the city the price of the stock. /ss/ Arthur R. Mielke" A motion was made by Commissioner Tarpley that a resolution be drawn to void the lease, effective June 10, 1964, or earlier, if mutually agreeable. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Grammer, and the roll being called, the Commissioners voted as follows : Grammer Yes Tarpley Yes Thornton Yes Young Yes Hill Yes City ManagerCulverson then presented two men for the discussion of the Garbage Incinerator. Mr. Simonds of the Geonga L Simonds Company: i Approximate cost - $100100000 to $150 000.00 unit $85,000.60 to $115,000.00 75 ton * ' Mr. Harvey Henann of Barcus & Kindred and Co. , Municipal Bonds. j Collatteral pledge - $200,000.00 Bond 11 year maturity = $25,000.00 per year 15 year maturity = $19,000.00 per year t No action was taken, but all information was taken into consider- ation. PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the City of Dania is growing and providing new jobs and incomes; and WHEREAS , Dania and its citizens are contributing impres- sively to the economyi:and growth of ouLr state and country. NOW, THEREFORE, I, VERA L. HILL, Mayor of the City of Dania, Florida, do hereby proclaim the 'nlonth of June be desig- nated as DANIA BOOSTER MONTH, and do earnestly .urge all citi- zens and local development and civic groups to express appre- ciation and give recognition to the City_;,of DANIA and all its citizens. /as/ VERA L.
