The City Commission of the City of Dania, Florida met in Special Session in the Commission Room at the City Hall. MEMBERS PRESENT WERE: MAYOR COMMISSIONER VERA L. HILL COMMISSIONERS R., L'. CRAMMER VIRGIL L. TARPLEY S. ELLIS YOUNG , CITY CLERK - MARY THORNHILL Meeting called to order at 7:45 P. M. o'clock by Mayor Hill Acting City Manager Grammer advised that Attorney Walden asked to be excused as he had another meeting to attend. Mayor Hill stated that the purpose of the meeting was to take action on awarding a contract for street paving. Acting City Manager Grammer recommended the contract be awarded to Broward Construction Company, lowest bidder. Bid being in the amount of $1.92 per sq. yd., total contract $32667.20. A motion was made by Commissioner Grammer to accept the recommendation of the Acting City Manager and award the contract to Broward Construction Com pant. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Tarpley, and the roll being called, the Commissioners voted as follows: Grammer Yes Tarpley Yes Young Yes Hill Yes Application for transfer of 4 COP License for Z. B. Skinner, Cozy Cove «' Marina, Inc., from Davis Seafood Bay, Inc., was presented. License transfer has been approved by Chief Smith. A motion was made by Commissioner Tarpley this application for transfer be approved on second reading. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Gram- mer, and the roll being called, the Commissioners voted as follows: Grammer Yes Tarpley Yes Young Yes ' Hill Yes Acting City Manager Grammer advised the commission that he had called several air conditioning companies for prices on air conditioning the Senior Citizens Building. Erwints Appliance Company is the only one that has submitted a bid. He presented a bid in the amount of $988.00. They made ceveral tests to find out which type unit wouldbe best for this building. I would like tohave permission to instruct Mr. Erwin to go ahead and install the unit at the price he quoted us. A motion was made by Commissioner Tarpley authorizing the City Manager to have Erwints Appliances install air conditioning in the Senior Citizens Building at a cost of $988.00, providing the City Attorney advises it is legal to have it done as no other bids were submitted. The motion was sec- onded by Commissioner Grammer, and the roll being called, the commissioners voted as follows: Grammer Yes Tarpley Yes Young Yes Hill Yes Commissioner Young: Under tte charter we are required to have at least three bids. We should get the City Attorneyts advice before we proceed. If it necessary to do this irgally by advertising for bids) then we should do that. City Manager Grammer: I will check with the City Attorney tomorrow and get his advice. We will do whatever he tells is has to be done. There being no further business) the meeting adjourned.
