SPECIAL MEETING HELD AT GRANDPA'S RESTAURANT
I. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Rogers at 12:26 pm

MOTION by Beulah Lair to accept the minutes from the July 28, 2008 meeting
as submitted.

IV. OLD BUSINESS
4.1 Shirt with Logo Quote
Chairman Rogers opened discussion with the Trustees regarding
T-shirts and a Jack Pack messenger bag from G & S Custom Screening
and Embroidery.
MOTION by Beulah Lair to order shirts and the Jack Pack for trustees
and the administrator from G & S Custom Screening and Embroidery.
SECOND by Vince Marlin
V. NEW BUSINESS
5.1 Fire Retirees Health Insurance
Chairman Rogers opened discussion with the Board regarding
retiree fire health insurance. The new rates starting October
1, 2008 to September 30, 2009 have changed to $386.56 for
family coverage, $145.87 for single coverage with or without
medicare; $312.84 for family with the retiree medicare covered.
The total amount for all fire retirees, survivors and annuitants health
insurance for October 1, 2008 to September 30, 2008 according to these
figures is $78,292.92. There is $262,566.00 currently available from the
funds Section 175 revenue.
MOTION by Beulah Lair to pay the October 1, 2008 to October 1, 2009
retiree's share of the City of Dania Beach health insurance from the
Future Reserve Benefit on behalf of retired Fire Fighters, Survivors and
joint survivor Annuitants.

5.2 Richard Rueth DROP Loan Request
Richard Rueth has requested a Drop Loan of $50,000.00.
He will then pay off the remaining balance of his old Drop
Loan of $9,636.66 and keep enough money from the new
Loan to make the monthly payments of $943.56 over a five
year period or sooner. If he leaves the City of Dania Beach Fire Dept.
and retires then the Drop Loan balance will be deducted from the
remaining balance in his Drop account. His Drop account balance
as of 6/30/2008 is $374,625.85.
MOTION by Ted Spongross to give Richard Rueth a Drop Loan of
$50,000.00 to be paid back in monthly payments of $943.56 over a five
year period or sooner. If he leaves the City of Dania Beach Fire Dept.
and retires the remaining balance of the Drop Loan will be deducted from
his Drop account balance.
SECOND by Commissioner John Bertino
