June 27th, A.D. 1927. This meeting has been called for the purpose of taping care of unfinished business and for the purpose of transacting any other business brought before the Council. A svecial meeting of the Citv Council of the City ,of Dania Florida was held persuant. to the call of the Mayor Pro Tem, A.J.Ryan in the City Hall, Dania Florida at 9:00 .A.M. June 27, A.D.1g27. The following were present: W. A.J.Ryan, mayor pro tem John B. Gregory, Councilman John M. Bryan, 0ouncilman O.S.Peck Councilman E.S.Tnbbs Councilman The following were absent: Harry T. Tubbs, Mayor The following also were present: John S. Odom, City Clerk T.D.Ellis, Jr. city attorney R.T.Skinner, City Manager • The meeting wasoalled to order by Mayor Pro Tem A.J.Ryan who stated that the meeting was called for the purpose of taking care of unfinished business. Mr. Ryan asked for a report from the committee appointed at the last meeting to obtain a garbage track and employ men to care for the collection of garbage and cleaning of streets and parks. Mr. John B. Gregory asked the city manager to state what had been done. City Manager Skinner reported that two negroes had been employed at $$2.50 .per day each and that a tin Ford truck had been rented for $7.50 per day. He further stated that garbage was being colleoted three times per week in the residence section every day in the business section and that the streets were .being cieaned the balance of the time. Terms of employment were discussed and lam. Charlton agreed to do such engineering work as the city might have on an hourly or per day basis at a fair price. A&. John M. Bryan made a motion that the firm of Charlton, Davis and Shelton be designated as city engineers of the City of Dania Florida and that the work be done on the hourly or per day basis at a fair price and that all bills for services be approved by the city council. The motion was seconded by Councilman O.S.Peck: The council voted as follows: John M. Bryan,Aye John B. Gregory, Aye O.S.Peck, Aye E.s.Tabbs, Aye Councilman E.S7Tubbs made a potion that a resolution be passed whichdhad been for the movedeback to allow of the if sidewalk in widening ofont of the theLaBree Dixie Bldg. Highway. The motion was seconded by Councilman John M. Bryan. The council voted as follows: John M. Bryan,Aye John B. Gregory, Aye O.S.Peok, Aye E.S.Tubbs, Aye The resolution is as follows: A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE PAVING WITH ROCK OF THE SIDEWALK IN FRONT OF THE LABREE BUILDING BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DANIA,FLORIDA. Section 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby ordered to have the space between the LaBree building and the sidewalk in front of said building paved with rock at a cost not to exceed 025.00 Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage. r` Passed this 27th day of June, A.D.1927. APPROVED City Clerk or Pro tem •�, y City Manager Skinner reported that at the suggestion of several members of the city eounoil another man had been added to the fire department and that the vacancies caused by the refusal of Holloway Cook and Karl Kitchen to serve had been filled. He said that the new men on the force were Ed Hanson, W.H.Wooten and Avery Adkins, The city manager re000mmended that the force be kept at six men and that W.H.Campbell be appointed Chief; W.H.Wooten, Captain and Ed Hanson as Chief maohinest, He said that 7&. Hanson was familiar with the entire waterworks system and that all men on the force were instructed in the operation of the water plant. Councilman John M. Bryan made a motion that W.H.Campbell be appointed Chief of the fire department. The motion was seconded by O.S.Peok, The council voted as follows: John M. Bryan, Aye John Be Gregory, Aye 0 S.Peck, Aye E.S.Tubbs, Aye W.H.Campbell was thereupon declared appointed as chief of the Dania Fire Department, Mr. John Bryan made a motion that the salaries of the city firemen be as follows: W.H.Campbell, Chief $150*00 per month Fd Hanson, Chief Eng. 110.00 per month W.H.Wooten, Captain 125,00 per month 1.1.1homan, Fireman 125.00 per month Sam B.Jones Jr.Fireman 125,00 per month Avery Adkins, Fireman 125.00 Der month The motion was seconded by Councilman John B. Gregory. The council voted as follows: John M. Bryan, Aye John Be Gregory, Aye 0 S.Pecks Aye E.S.Tubbs, Aye Mr. John Bryan made a motion that the City Manager be authorized to obtain estimates on the cost of laying a six inch water, main from the intersection of nineteenth street and the Dixie out off south on nineteenth street to the southern city limits at Sheridan street and report at the earliest possible moment in order that fire protection may be afforded the residents in that territory. The motion was seconded by Mr. 0.S.Peok. The council voted as follows: John M. Bryan, .Aye John Be Gregory, Aye O.S.Peok, Aye E.S.Tubbs, Aye Mr. John Bryan made a motion that the pipe lines in the north Hollywood section of Dania now being supplied with water by the City of Hollywood, be considered the property of the City of Dania. The motion was seconded by Mr. John Gregory. The council voted as follows: John M. Bryan, Aye John B. Gregory, Aye O.S.Peok, Aye E.S.Tubbs, Aye Councilman E.S.Tmbbs made a motion that the city manager be empowered to purchase the necessary books, office supplies and furniture to eouip the city hall. The motion was seconded by John Be Gregory. The council voted as follows: John M. Bryan, Aye John Be Gregory, Aye O.S.Peck, Aye E.S.Tabbs, Aye Councilman E.S.Tubbs moved that the council adjourn subject to the call of the mayor pro tem. The motion was seconded by John M.
