The adjourned meeting of the city council of the city of
Dania, Florida was held in the Dania City Rtanioipal Chamber
July 11, A.D. 1927. The following were present:

Mayor protem Ryan announced that the meeting was held per-
suant to the adjournment of the regular meeting of July 59 A.D.
1927.
The city clerk was instructed to read proposed orddinanae
No. 5. Following a disoussion of the provisions of the ordin-
ance a motion was made by John B.Gregory that ordinance No. 5
be passed. The motion was seconded by O:SPeok. The council
voi:ed as follows:

AN ORDANANCE R?'2UIF.ING OWNERS OF PRO 'ERTY OF THEIR
AGENTS TO KEEP THEIR 10TS FREE AND CLEAN OF WEEDS;
BRUSH, UNDERGROWTH, FIRE HAZARDS, AND PROVIDING FOR
THE KEEPING CLEAN OF TOTS WITHIN THE CITY OF DANIA,

BE IT ORDAIN?;D BY TIE CITY COUNCIL (F TIIL CITY OF DANIA, FLORIDA.
Section 1. It shall be the duty of the city manaer of
the City of Dania, Florida to inspect structures and buildings
within the City in order to ascertain %-hether or not they arc in
a safe condition or whether they constitute a fire hazard, or are
construdted in such a way as to constitute a manace to the safety
and wrelfaro of the inhabitants of the said City.
Section 2. It shall be the duty of the City Lianager of
the City of Dania, Florida to inspect lots and urenisos within
the city in order to ascertain whether or not said premises and
lots are free and clean of weeds, brush, undergrowth, trash, filth,
garbage and other refuse, and are free of fire hazards and other`
unsafe buildings and structures.
Section 3. Whenever, upon inspection of premises or lots
within said City of upon an inspection of buildings or structures
within said City, the City Manager shall find any premises or lot
upon which weeds, brush, underfrowth, trash, filth, garbage or
other refuse has been allowed or permitted to remain, or whenever
said City Manager shall find any building or structure upon said
uremises and lots which constitute a fire hazard, or which is in
an unsafe condition, he shall serve notice in waiting upon the owner
or agent of the owner of said lot or premises to clean up their
lot or premises and remedy the unsafe and undesirable conditions
thereof within Ten days from the date of said notice.
Section 4. It shall be the duty of the City Manager to serve
the owner or a,;ent of the owner of any premises or lot upon which
he shall find a buildin;; or structure in an unsafe condition or
which constitutes a fire hazard, with notice in writing to tear
doting said building or structure which is in an unsafe con-
dition or which constitutes a fire hazard and to tear down or
destroy said building or structure or to remedy the wuisafe condition
thereof within Ten days of the date of said notice.
Section 5. Mienever any owner or occupant of any premises,
building or structure has been served with notice as provided in
Sections 3 and 4 hereof and shall not remedy the condition of the
promises, building or structure referred to in said notice within
the time stipulated herein, the City Nanager is hereby authorized to
go upon said premises, structures, or buildings and remedy the unsafe

condition thereof and the expenses incurred in placing said propert
in a safe condition shall be charged as alien against said property
in the amount of the 0.,pense to City of Dania, in 'aakiy,L repairs,
tcavinC, dorm unsafe structures or in romodying defects in construction,
or in cleaning said lot or premises.
Section 6. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in con-
flice herewith, arc repealed hereby.
Section 7. This Ordinance shall tote effect in .ediately
upon its .passaGo and approval of Clio i.iayor.

line at Bess Garage, together with tv.,clve fire hydrants, with neccosary
,ten crosses and fittings, including the labor of installation
at an estimated cost of 11,453.10. The replacement of the 4" mains
for four blocks on the Di.:ie llighv;ay with six inch mains together
with two now fire hydrants and necessary 7'E4wS , crosses and
fittings, includint; the cost of installation mould be p&,628.58v
malcing a total for the two jobs of 5116,001.66.
L. Abreu, architect, presented a preliminary sketch
for a proposed Casino to be built on City property at Dania Beaph
betr+een the Sound and the Ocean. Mar. *reu estimated the cost
of construction at y15,500.00.
Following a discussion, .Joln ld. Bryan evade a motion authorizing
the City Attorney to prepare an ordinance calling for a bond issue
in the sure of 50,000.00 for the purpose of laying the water mains,
building a Casino and making other necessary ldtuzieipal imprd)vements.
The motion was deconded by E. S. Tubbs . The Council voted as follovis :

placed certain rater rains in the City of Dania, Fla. as folloras:
The four inch mains on the Dixie Highway, extending from N.Vi. First

four inch mains on the Dixie Highviay extending from S. Vl. Second
Street to the Alley one hundred and fifty two feet south of S. W.
Fifth Street to be rep laced by six inch ruins.

and directed to make the replacements and extentions provided for in
Sections 1 and 2 by the purchasing of' materials in behalf of the City
of Dania, Fla. and with work and labor of the City of Dania, Fla.,
providing that the cost of said ronlacemonts and extentions shall
not exceed sum of 016,081.68, or said City 1,1anarer may contract with
any person, firm or corporation for the porformance of said wort: and
furnishing of and materials for said replacements and extentions :
Provided, however that the contract price for said Work and M terials
shall not exceed the said sum of .)l6,081.68o and provided further that
said contract. shall be let to the loviest responsible bidder, after
advertising for bids by posting notice on
bulletin board at City Hall
for Period of 10 days and publishing notice in Ft. Lauderdale ii

Section 4. If said replacements and extentions shall be made
pursuant to contract with a person, firm or corporation and said
ren;acerients are not made with materials, work and labor of the
City of Dania, the said person, firm or corporation with whoa the
City 1,Tanager in behalf of the City shall contract, shall furnish
good and sufficient bond to be approved by the City Isanager, in an
amount equal to 40 percent of the contract price. The condition of
said bond shall be the good and faithful performance of said rrorlc and labor and
the furnishing of materials in accordance with the s
specifications for said materials, rrorlc and labor Which shall be
furnished to the said contractor by the City idanager. Said bond
also shall indemnify the City of Dania for all damage and clairis for
damage Occasioned by the performance of said work.
Section 5. The City Llanager is here by authorized, to bohitoty

at a rate of interest not to exceed eight per cent, and payable on

Section 6. If said work is let to a person, firm or corporation,

estimates of completed work to be furnished the City Manager by said
Contractor, provided that 15 percent of the contract price shall be
held by the City L;anager and not paid to the Contractor until the
entire work Has been corpleted and accepted by the City ,Sanager.
Section 7 . This resolution shall take effect izmediately
upon its passage.

nI 1r. Glass of the Florida ldc ht and PA4rer Company presented an

ordinance to the Council granting the Florida izht and Wl%;er Company
a franchise to operate in the City of Dania. The ordinance was
referred to the City Attorney, pending the decision of the Florida
EiL t and r Company to establish an office in Dania.
Mr. Chris Howard appeared before the Council on behalf of the
Baseball players and fans and requested that the City improve the

present baseball field with a grand stand and leveling of the diamond.
Iie estimated the cost at tir13000.00. The City ?.tanager was instructed
to investigate the improvements suggested or find a larger field
for a ball ground. Chris Howard and Arthur 01IIea were asked to
serve on the committee with the City Eianager.
D. S. Tubbs made a motion ftthat F. L. A$rou be instructed to
prepare plans and specifications for the proposed Casino in order
that they be ready if the people vote favorably on the bonds for
building with the understanding that Mr. Mill would expect no pay
for the plans unless the bond issue carried. The motion was seconded
by John B. Gregory. Council voted as follows:

Fire Chief Campbell appeared before the Council and asked that
the City purchase uniforms for the firemen. John M. Bryan made a
i'.otion that uniforms be purchased for the firoman at a cost mt not
to eaceod ;"65.00 each. The motion was seconded by John B. Gregory.
