MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DI:NIA,PLORIDA
HELD IN THE CITY HALL ON THE '25th DAY OF JULY A,D.1927,
A meeting of the city council of the City of Dania, Florida was
held persuant to the adjournment of the meeting of July 20, A,D.1927
in the city hall City of Dania, Florida at 7:30 P.M. July 25, A.D.1927.
The following were present.
A,J.Ryan, Mayor protem and counoilman.
John M. Bryan, Councilman.
O.S,Peok, Councilman
E:S. Tubbs, Councilman.
Mayor He To Tubbs and Councilman John Be Gregory were absent from the
meeting.
The following also were present;
Raymond T. Skinner, City Manager.
John S, Odom; City Clerk.
T.D,E111s Jr,,City Attorney.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Pro Tom A,J,Ryan.
The minutes of the meeting of the city council held July 20, 1927
at 7:30 P,M,in the City Hall were read and approved.
Mr. A,L.Pashby, shipbuilder, appeared before the council and made
a statement regarding the improvements he proposed to make if granted
the use of Block 203 Hollywood Central Beach, which is the property
of the Oity of Dania. He said he would expend approximately 10,000
dollars infive years in constructing a road, filling ground, building
his yard and would employ ten or twelve men.
City Attorney Ellis reported that he had asked L,O.Casey, attorney
for the J.w,Young interests to have the restrictions on the lot waived
and would report what progress Mr. Casey had made at the next meeting.
City Manager Skinner was instructed to visit the proposed site
of the shipyard with Mr, Pashby to ascertain just how much of the land
is out pf water and how much filling is to be done.
The City manager submitted a blue print showing the electric
lighting system of the City of Dania and recommended that 24 additional
street lights be installed to take the place of an equal number that
had not been burning since the storm. The proposed plan called for
bracket lights on poles at each block beginning at the Davie road and
extending south to the Dixie highway ont-off then to Twentieth street
and southward to Sheridan. He also proposed placing eight lights on
the East Dixie Highway at each street intersection between Sheridan
street and Bess' garage. He said that the Florida Power & Light Co.
would install the lights at no cost to the city except the regular
charge of $50 each per year for light.
Councilman John M, Bryan made a motion that the lights be
installed as planned except the eight on the Bast Dixie highway. The
Motion was seconded by Councilman O,S,Peck. The council voted as
follows;

Councilman O,S.Peok Aye
Councilman E.S,Tubbs Aye
Those voting Nay, None.
A general discussion of the water charges followed and the
Cit Manager reported that water meters could be purchased at a cost
of 11.81 each and cast iron meter boxes at a cost of about #2 P.50
;. each and that arrangements could be made to pay for them over a year
and a half.
