Florida, at 9;30 P.M- July 20th A.D.1927. The following were present; A.J.RY=, Mayor pro-tem and councilman John B. Gregory, Councilman O,s.peok Councilman E.s.Tabba Councilman Mayor H. T.Tabba and Councilman John M. Bryan were absent from the meeting. The following also were present; Raymond T. skinner, City Manager. John S. Odom, City Clerk T.D.Ellia, Jr. , City Attorney. The meeting was called to order by Mayor pro-tem A.J.RYan- The minutes of the meeting of the City Council hold July 13th A.D.1927 at 7;30 O'olook P.M.in t)se city hall were read and approved. City manager skinner reported that the assessment roll for the City of Dania had been completed and'that the valuations for the year 1927 were as follows; Real Estate 3,804,843.00 Improvements 247,575.00 Railroads, Telegraph Eto. 750170.00 0.00 personal Property Total Valuation The city manager announced that this valuation did not include the part of the City of Ft. Lauderdale which was annexed nor the little strip of county territory which had been taken into the city of Dania at the last legislature. He also said that the Hollywood City commission, sitting as a board of equalization had made some reductions in the valuation of acreage which would affect Dania. The City manager also reported that the plans and specifications for the proposed extensions and replacements of the water works distribution system were completed and on file in his office. He said that advertisements were appearing in the Ft. Lauderdale News calling for sealed proposals on his work to be received not later than 9 A.M. on August 191927- Mayor Pro-tem A.J.RYan then called a meeting of the city council for 9 A.M.Augu4, 1, 1927 for the purpose of opening bids on the water works Sob. City manager Skinner announced that he had received a bill from the Eurhka Fire Hose Manufacturing Co. in the sum of $2,366*00 for fire hose and equipment said to have been purchased by the old town j of Dania in September and November, 1925, The bill of goods amounted to $2,160000 with $215.00 interest. The matter was referred to the i City Attorney and City Manager* The City Clerk presented a bill from R.L.Soanlon, sign painter for $68.25 for painting city Signs. A motion was made by John B. Gregory that the bill be paid. 043.Peok s ded the motion. Upon vote being taken the motion carried as follows; Councilman John B. '"'. being taken the motion oarrled as follows: '^ ~ Councilman John B, Gregory Aye Councilman O.S,Peok, Aye Councilman E,S.Tubbs Aye Those voting nay, none, Mr, Arthur C. O'Hea appeared before the council and asked if the council would entertain a proposal to lease for a short period of years a piece of the city property on the sound for a small ship yard. Following a discussion regarding restrictions on the property, Mr. O'Hea was asked to have the owner of the proposed ship yard appear before the council at the next meeting. The city Attorney also was asked to investigate the restrictions on the property. Mr. O'Hea also stated that he was in communication with some parties in.Miohigan who desire to establish a paint factory in Danis. He said they wanted a location on the Di.xi'e Highway;near the canal and that they were able to finance the project it a building site wave furnished. He said that in the near future the oity might be asked to take some action regarding this plant, One city manager was instructed to write-to Mr. M.Wt.Goode, house mover of Miami and have him give an astimate.on moving,:.the teas garage in order to make way for the new Federal road.;;Membsrs `of the council expressed a desire to have all of the'remaining;..buildings on the highway moved back to the new .buildin6 line as, soon as possible. A motion was made by B.3.Tubbs and seconded by John B. Gregory that the council ajourn to meet again on Monday july'25th at 1:30 p.M.
