It was moved by Councilman John M. Bryan that the rules be
waived and the second and third readings of Ordinance No. 6 be dis-
pensed with and that said Ordinance be placed on its final passage.
This motion was seconded oy Councilman O.S. Peck and upon roll call
by the Clerk the members responded as follows.

be passed and adopted as read. The motion was seconded by Council-

City Clerk John S. Odom and approved by A.J. Ryan, Kayor Pro-tem
of the City of Dania, became Ordinance No. 6 of the Ordinances off„
the City of Dania .
Councilman John lu. . Bryan made a motion, seconded by O.S. Peck,
that T.D. Ellis Jr. , be employed to prepare the papers necessary
for the issuance of bonds specified in Ordinance ITo. 6, and to
prepare proceedings for validation of said bonds and to aid in
the sale of said bonds. Said T.D. Ellis, Jr. , to receive 3;6 of
the proceeds realized upon the sale of said bonds for his eom-
pensation. . Upon vote being taken, the motion carried as follows:

Ordinance No. 7 describing tine Method, L'anner and Couduot
of calling and holdingadl elections, rebilar or special, within
the City of Dania, Florida; was presented by Councilman John B.
Gregory and read in full by the City Clerk as follows:
AN ORDINANCE
No. 7 .
DESCRIBING THE !dLBTHOD, LANNLR, AND CONDUCT
OF CALLIiiG AND HOLDIF'G ALL LLECTIUIiS, REG-
ULAR OR SPECIAL (WITHIN TILE CITY OF DAIcIA
FLORIDA;
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DANIA
FLORIDA;
Section 1. Regular elections shall be held within
the City of Dania Florida on the first Tuesday in November
of each year commencing with the year 1927, which shall be
known as regular municipal elections, All other elections
within said City shall be designated as special elections.-
Section 2. Registration books shall be opened at
the office of the City Cleric of the City of Dania Florida
at the City Hall twenty (20) days before the holding of any
election and shall remain open for registration for ten (10)
days immediately preceeding the election, between the hours
of 9:00 A.In, and 1215. and from 2:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.Ii. each
day.
Section 3. Any person who has been a resident of
the territory included in the City of Dania Florida for a
t' period of sip: months next predeeding the election date, and
who has been a resident of the State of Florida for a period
of one year and the County of Broward for a period of six
months and who is a qualified elector in the State and-County
elections under the lards of the State of Florida and who is
over twenty-one (21) years oi• age, is Antitled to register as
herein provided except that in elections to approve or dis-
ol;A`•: _
approve of general bond issues an additional requirement shall
be that said person owns real property in the City of Dania
Florida. Each person, when registering shall be given the
following oath by the registration officer "I do solemnly
swear that I am a bona fide resident of the City of Dania Flo-
rids, and that I am a qualified elector under the Charter of
the City of Dania, Florida".
Section 4. All elections •the time of which is not
provided for within the Charter of the• City of Dania, shall
be called by the Council, by Ordinance, or Resolution and
notice shall be given forthwith of the time and place of hold-
ing of said election by proclamation of the Layor, which shall
be published once each week for three consecutive weeks before

the election date in a newspaper of general circulation in
the City of Dania Vlorida , or in 3roward County Florida.
Section 5. The City Uouneil shall call a primary
election to be held not more than thirty (30) days before any
E€ general election, for the purpose of nominating officers to
be voted on at the general election. Said primary election
f shall be held at the City Hall and the polls shall be kept
I, open from 9:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. upon the day the primary
election is held.
a Section o. The City Clerk shall prepare ballots
for the conducting of any election, and shall have the same
printed and delivered to the inspectors of the election
hereinafter provided for, or one of them on the date preceeding
the election.
Section 7. The name of no candidate for any elect-
ive office under the Charter of the City of Dania shall be
placed on the ballot unless there shall be filed with the
City Clerk not less than ten (10) days prior to the date fixed
for the holdin- of any primary election, a petition in writ-
ing that the name of such person be placed upon the primary

election b;:llot as a candidate for such office respectively.
Said petition must be signed by not less than fifteen (15)
:qualified electors of the City of Dania, and upon receipt of
such petitions properly signed, the City Clerk tihu,.

upon the ballot the name of such person designated therein.
Section S. The City Coiuicil shall designate three
inspectors and one clerk of election not less than len (10)
days prior to the holding of any election, who shall take be-
fore entering upon the discharge of their duties an oath that
they will perform the duties of inspector and clerk respectively
of said election and as such will endeavor to prohibit all
fraud, disorder and abuse in the conducting of the same.
Section 9. At the close of the ballot of any election
the clerk and inspectors of the election shall immediately
proceed to open the ballot box or boxes and count the ballots
therein} and they shall continue the said count without ad-
journment or interruption until the same is completed. Upon
the said count being completed they shall publicly declare the
results of said election and they shall certify the results
and deliver such certificates together with the ballot box
or bores and other papers and memorandum used at said election
within twenty-four (2,1), hours to the City Clerk of the City
of Dania, 111orida .
5eetion 10. At the next re.-ular or special meeting
of the City Council, the Council shall canvaes the votes cast
at said election, which canvass shall be made entirely and
exclusively from the certificates and returns of the inspect
ors and clerk of said election ana when said canvass shall
have been completed the same shall be spread upon the minutes
of the Council
Section 11. the ten persons receiving the highest
number of votes for Councilman at a primary election as shown
by the canvass of the City Council, and the two persons receiv
ing the hieihest numuer of votes for each other elective office .respectively
of said City, including the office of JIayor, as shown by the
canvass of the City Council, shall then become entitled to be
placed upon the ballot in the general election as candidates
for the office of Councilman of the City of Dania, or other
Office respeotivoly, anch t1leir »,,,,.

the said ballot is made up. Should any two or more persons
receive the same number of votes for any office, the City Council
shall by vote' UOM1410te from such candidates the person who
shall be placed upon the general election ballot.
Section 12. The City Clerk shall prepare the general
election ballot nlaoing thereon the names of those candidates
receiving the highest number of votes in the primary election
according to the provisions of Se(btion 11 hereof.
Section 13. The five (5) candidates receiving the
highest number of votes for Councilman in any general election
and the candidate receiving the highest number of votes at any
general election for other office within said City, as shown
by the canvass of, the returns of said election by the Council
shall be entitled to such office and it shall be the duty of
the Council to canvass the returns of said general election
as soon as possible after the election. :ihould two or more
candidates receive the same nw,iber of votes for an office
upon the general election the Council shall designate a time
and place of holding a general election to determine the
successful candidate for such office.
Section 14. The provisions for registration, canvass
return and conduct of elections prescribed herein shall apply
boith to general and special elections held within the City of
Dania, Florida and said elections shall be held between the
hours of 9:00 A.Ii, and 7:00 P.L.
Section 15. This Ordinance shall take effect from
and after its passage and adoption and its approval by the
mayor.

and 1'esolutiona or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith
are repealed hereby.

After discussions between members of the City Council and '
the City ::anger and representatives of various automobile agencies
it was moved by Councilman i;.S. Tubbs, seconded by Councilman
U.S. Peck, that the City 1canager be authorized to purchase a
Chevrolet one ton Ci1a5Si5 trudu with dump body, from Powell

Ordinance No. 8 being Sn Ordinance fixing the charge of
One Dollar (y1.00) for building permits and Ten Dollars (glO.00)
for tapping water mains; was presented. by Councilman E.0'. Tubbs

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Dania, Florida .
Section 1. Whenever any person, firm, association, or
Corporation shall erect or cause to be erected any building or
structure within the limits of the City of Dania, , Florida, said
person, firm, association or corporation shall first obtain from
the City Clerk a building permit and upon the issuance of said
building permit, Oity Clerk shall collect a charge of One Dollar
(1�1.00) for the issuance of said permit.
Section 2. Vihenever any person, firm, association, or
corporation shall desire to tap any water main within the City
of Dania, Florida, said person, firm, association, or corporation
shall first obtain a permit from the city Clerk to tap said
water main, and said City Clerk shall collect from said person,
firm, association, or corporation a charge of Ten Dollars ( p10.00)
before issuing said permit.
Section 6. Any person, firm, association, or corporation
who violates any of the provisions of this Ordinance, upon
conviction before the 1;ayor, shall be subject to a fine of Five
Dollars (:,N5.00) and costs, or imprisionment one day, or by both
such file and inrorisionment within the :'discr@tson_ Of the Kayor.
