August 8th A.D.19276 The following were present; A,J,Ryan, Mayor Pro•-tem and Councilman. John M. Bryan, Councilman. John B. Gregory, Counoilman. E.S. Tabbs, Counoilman, t Mayor H, T,Tubbe and Councilman O.S.peok were absent. The following also were present; Raymond T, Skinner, City Manager John S, Odom, City Clerk T.D.Ellis Jr, ,City Attorney. Mayor pro-tem A.J.Ryen called the meeting to order. The minutes of the meetings of July 25th, August 1, 2 and 6 were read and x89 d%tks� ms31naxriswNt approved. The city manager reported the receipt of a statement from the M,E.Hoffman Construction sompany in the amount of $63005 which represents the expense of that company in bidding on the water works contract and signing the contract, Following a discussion of postponing the work a motion was made by John B, Gregory, and seconded by Councilman E,S,Tubbe that action on the Hoffman bontraot be postponed for a week. Upon being put to a vote the motion carried eas follows; Councilman John M, Bryan, Aye Councilman John B. Gregory, Aye Councilman E,S. Tubbs, Aye. — Those voting 'nay, none. The City manager reported that the City had $8,242.21 in the Dania Bank &N Trust Co, of which $4,381,Q0 was in the street widening fund and $3,861*21 in the general fund, Councilman John M, Bryan then presented his resignation to the mayor which was read by the clerk as follows; Hon Mayor and City Council of the Dania, Fla City of Dania August S. 1927 Gentlemen; tender you my resignation to take effect at once. Yours truly Jno. M, Bryan, No cation was taken on the resignation by etuncil. A general discussion of another bond issue for improvements in the City of Dania took ace between members of the City Council and business men and a' f6gs present* those addressing the council were R,L. Jones, Dr, Barnett, Sam Luther, Guy LEBree, Mrs, pearl Sparkman 'Sam B. Jones Sr, The business men present said they would present a petition from the Citizens of Dania asking for another bond election and Mr. Sam fy B. Jones urged Air. Bryan to withdraw his resignation and wait until another bond election could be called. ° Councilman E,S.Tabbs made a motion that council adjourn until a ; Tuesday night August 9 at 7;30 p.M. The motion was seconded by Councilman John B. The following were present: 1..J,Ryan, Mayor pro-tem and councilman E.S. Tubbs, Counoilman. John Be Gregory, Councilman O. S.Peck, Councilman Mayor HeT. Tabbs and Councilman John M. Bryan were absent. The following also were present: Raymond T. Skinner, City Manager John S. Odom, City Clerk T.D.Ellis Jr. , City Attorney Mayor pro-tem A.J.Ryan called the meeting to order. The minutes of the meeting of the City Council held August 8thr'I,.D. 1927 were read and approved. The City Clerk was instructed to read the resignation of Councilman John M. Bryan which was submitted at the meeting of August 8th. . Councilman E.S.Tubbs made a motion that the resignation of Councilman Bryan be accepted with regret. The motion was seconded by Councilman John Be Gregory. Upon vote being taken the council voted as follows; Councilman John Be Gregory, Aye. Councilman O.S.Peok Aye. Councilman E.S.Rubbe, Aye. Those voting Nay, none Mayor Protem A.J.Ryan thereupon announced that the resignation of Mr. Bryan had been accepted and instructed the City Attorney to write him a-letter expressing the regret of the council because of his resignation. Mayor Protem A.J.Ryan then called for nominations fordf a councilman to fill the vacancy caused by Mr. Bryan's resignation. Councilman E.S. Tubbs placed in nomination the name of W.C.Barnett :b r the vacancy on the council. The nomination was seconded by Councilman John Be Gregory. Upon being put to a vote W.C.Barnett was elected as follows: Councilman John Be Gregory Aye Councilman O.S.Peck, Aye Councilman E.S.Tubbs, Aye Mayor Pro-tem Ryan sent a delegation of business men to get D . Barnett and upon being escorted to the council chamber was adtinistered the oath of office as a city councilman of the City of Dania, Florida by T.D.E111s Jr. , notary public. R.L.Jones, representing the business interests of the city presented a petition to the council asking that body to call another election &e soon as possible under the law, to vote $50,000.00 in bonds for munLeipal purposes. The petitions contained 58 names of residents and property owners of the City of Dania. S.B.Jones, Sam Luther, Mr., Churchill, J.T.Wright and others present spoke in favor of calling anothet bond issue as soon as .'.` possible. Councilman John Be Gregory suggested that the council postpone any action on another issue until more names could be obtained to the petitions.
