Gs �j meeting of the city council of the City of Dania, Florida was
held Saturday September 3rd A.D.1927 at 1 o'clock p.M.in the City Hall,

Mayor H. T. Tubbs and Councilman W.C,Barnett were absent.
The following also were present:
Raymond T. Skinner City Clerk
Mayor pro-tem A. J.Ryen announced that the meeting had been called for
the purpose of passltng a resolution declaring right-of-way for a street
along railroad property of the F.E.C.railroad and to transact any other,
business that might come before the meeting.
The city clerk reported that City Attorney Ellis was preparing the
resolution but had not yet appeared with it.
The Clerk was asked to read a resolution fixing the date of the
primary election as of Cot. 17, 1927. The resolution follows:

PROVIDING FOR THE CALLING AND HOLDING OF A PRIMARY ELECTION IN THE CITY OF
DANIAXB&E�BHOWARD COUNTY FLORIDA UPON TEE. 17thDAY OF OCTOBER A.D.1927,F@
THE PURPOSE OF NOMINATING OFFICERS TO BE VOTED UPON AT THE GENERAL ELECTION
TO BE HELD TUESDAY NOVEMBER let A.D.1927,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY b0UNOIL OF THE CITY OF DANIA FLORIDA:
Section 1. That a primary election be,and the same is hereby called
and ordered to 'be held in the City of Dania, Florida, on the 17th day of
October A.D,1927 for the purpose of nominating officers to be voted upon
at the general election for the election of officers of the city of Dania
Florida to be held on Tuesday the first day of November, A.D,1927; that
saldprimary Election shall be held at the City Hall within the City of
Dania Florida, and the polls shall be kept open from 9:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M.
upon the day the primary election is held; that at said election all
qualified electors of the City of Dania who have registered shall be
permitted to vote.
Section 2. That the City Clerk pf the City of Dania, Florida is
hereby authorized and directed to open the registration books for the
purpose of registering the qualified voters of such election on the 27th
day of September A.D.1927 and keep said books open daily except Sunsays
and legal holidays from the hours of 9:00 A.M.until 12:00 M• and from
2:00 P.M.until 7:00 P.M. each day until 7:00 o'clock in the afternoon
of the 8th day of October A.D.1927, when same shall be closed; notice of
the opening and closing of the registration books and of the time and
place of holding of said election shall be given and contained in the
proclamation of the Mayor of said City, which shall be published once each
week for three consecutive weeks before the election date, in a newspaper
of general circulation in the City of Dania, Florida or in Broward County
Florida.
Section 3, The City Clerk shall prepare ballots for the conduotilzj of
said election and shall have the same printed and delivered to the Q'
inspectors of the election, or one of them on the date preceeding the
election.
Section 4. The name of no candidate for any elective office under the
Charter of the City of Dania, shall be placed on the ballot unless there
shall be filed with the City Clerk, not less than ten days prior to the
time fixed for the holding of said primary election, a petition in writing

that the name of such person be placed on the primary ballot as a
candidate for such office respectively. Said petition must be signed by
not less than fifteen (15) qualified electors of the City of Dania, and
upon receipt of such petition properly signed, the City Clerk shall place
upon the ballot the name of such person designated therein.
Section 5. That the Mayor of the City of Dania is hereby authorized
and notified to issue his proclamation giving norice of the time and place
of holding of the primary election aforesaid, and of the opening and
closing of the registration books and have the same published in the
Hollywood News, a newspaper published in Broward County, Florida, and
of general circulation within the City of Dania, Florida, once each week
for three consecutive weeks prior to the day of holding of the election.
The proclamation and notice being hereto perscribed as follows;

Notice is hereby goven that by authority vested in me and in
pursuance to Resolution passed by the City Council of the City of Dania,
on the Ord day of September A.D.1927, I do hereby proclaim that a primary
election authorized by said resolution, will be held in the City of Dania
on the 17th day of October /!.D.1927, for the purpose of nominating officers
! to be voted upon at the General Election to be held on Tuesday, November
s let, A.D.1927.
The# City Clerk will open the registration books on the 27th day of
September A.D.1927 for the purpose of registering qualified voters of the
City of Dania, and shell keep said books open daily except Sundays end legal
holidays between the hours of 9;00 h.M.and 12 M. and from 2;00 p.M.until
7:00 P.M. each day until 7;00 P.M. in the afternoon of the 8th day of
October A.D.1927 when the same shall be closed.
The said election shall be held in the City Hall, within the City of
Dania, Florida; the polls will be open at 9;00 o'clock in the forenoon and
will be closed at 7;00 O'clock P.M.on the day of said election.

Section 6. That the City Clerk of the City of Dania, Florida is
authorized and directed, when all petitions of candidates have been
received as hereinfefore dgmart4*adt provided, to have the necessary ballots
printed for the purpose of holding said election.
Section 7 Ill resolutions or parts of resolutions in donflift herewith
are repealed hereby.
Section B. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its
passage and upon its approval by the mayor.

Councilman John B. Gregory made a motion that the resolution be
adopted which was seconded by Councilman L.S.Tubbs. Upon being put to a
vote the resolution was adopted as follows;

Councilman D.S. Tubbs, Aye.
Those voting Nay, none.

City Manager Skinner reported that the committed named by council to
appraise the property of the City of Dania had completed its work and
that the fixed assets of the city were as follows;
City Hall Site, building and equipment $45,000.00
Waterworks system, site,bidgs & equipment 85,000.00
Fire department equipment 12,000.00
Street Department Equipment 810.00
Streets and sidewalks 104,000.00
parks, Parkways, buildings & equipment 100,000.00
Garbage dump 20500'.00
White Way lighting system 120500.00
Cemetery lots unsold 16,400.00
Total fixed assets 3'18 1o:M
F Councilman Peok made a motion that the .report of the committee be
accepted and adopted by the council. The motion. was seconded by Cpuncilman
Gregory and upon being put to a vote was carried as follows:
Councilman John B. Gregory, Aye
Councilman O.S.Peck, Aye
Councilman E.S. Tabbs, aye
Those voting Nay, none.
Councilman Tubbs made a motion that .the city manager arragge with .
the Florida Power and light Co. to have every other light on the Dixie
highway shut off until December 156 1927. The motion was seconded by
councilman Gregory and council voted as follows;
Councilman John B. Gregory, Aye
Councilman O.S.Peok, Aye
Councilman E.S. Tubbs, Aye
Those voting Nay, None,
Councilman Gregory Made a motion to Adjourn which was seconded by
Councilman Tubbs and upon being put to a vote of council was carried
unanimously.
