Minutes of the meeting of the City Council of the City of Dania,
Florida held Thursday Sept. 89 1927 at 9 l,,11,in the City Hall.

following were present:
A. J.Ryan, Mayor pro-tern and councilman
John B. Gregory, Councilman
W.C.Barnett, Councilman
E.S.Tubbe, Councilman

f Mayor H. T. Tabbs and Councilman O.S.Peok were absent.
The following also were present:
Raymond T. Skinner, City Clerk
D. T.Ellis, Jr. , City lttorne*.
Mayor prop-tem Ryan announced that the meeting had been called for
the purpose of canvassing the vote of the 3" Special bond election
held on Sept. 7, 1927 and to transact any other business that oame
before the body.
Mr. Charlton and Mr. Daniel engineers for the City of Dania and
Mr. Fergus, engineer for the state Road Department appeared before
the council and presented plans showing the proposed elevations for
the Dixie Highway when widened. Mr. Fergus announced that it would
be necessary for the City to provide drainage for the highway before
the road was built. Mr. Davis showed how storm water sewers could
be constructed to take care of the water.
Councilman Gregory made a motion that the engineers prepare plans
and specifications for sewers to take care of only the drainage
necessary for the Disie. Highway. The motion was seconded by pouncilm=
Barnett. On being put to a vote the motion was carried as follows:

Those voting nay none.
Mr. Charlton then presented the council with an estimate of the cost
' of preparing a city map which would include all of.the incorporated
aeria of the City of Dania. He estimated the cost at between $150.00
and $200.00.
Councilman Barnett made a motion that the engineer be instructed to
make such a Inap. The motion was seconded by Councilman Gregory and
council voted as follows on the Motion:

Those voting nay none.

election held in the city of Dania, Florida., September 7, 1..D.1927

election which is as follows;

THE CITY OF DANIA FLORIDA.
We, the undersigned, being duly qualified councilmen of the City of
Dania, Florida, do hereby certify that at a meeting of the Council held
f on the 8th day of September ,,.D.1927, we canvassed the result of the
special election held in the City of Dania, Florida, on the 7th Day of
September A.D.1927, at which election the proposition of whether or not
bonds of the City of Dania. Florida, in the amount of Fifty Thousand
Dollars (050,000.00) should be issued for "M=ioipal Purposeelf was
submitted to the duly qualified voters of the City of Dania, Florida.
The number of votes cast for issuing negotiable coupon bonds of
the City of Dania, in the sum of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00)
for-,Municipal Purposee" were 75
The number of votes cast against issuing negotiable coupon bonds of
the City of Dania Florida, in the Sum of Fifty Thousand Dollars
($50,000.00) for "Municipal Purposes" were 38
The City Councilmen find and certify that a majority of the votes
osst by the Duly qualified electors voting at said election were for
issuing negotiable coupon bonds of the City of Dania, Florida, in the

Councilman Gregory made a motion that the law firm of Thompson,
Wood & Hoffman of,New York City be employed to pass upon the legality
of the $50,000.00 bond issue. The motions was seconded by Councilman
ffiMbbs. Upon being put to a vote the council voted as follows;

Those voting nay, none.
The Clerk then read the Oath which the inspectors and clerk of the
Special Election of Sept. 7, 1927 took before entering upon their
duties. The Oath follows;

and Sam B. Jones, having been duly sworn, do solemnly swear that
we will protect and defend the Constitution of the United States
and the Constitution of the State of Florida, end the Charter of
the City of Dania, Florida, and that we will well and faithfully
perform the duties of Inspectors and Clerk, TAmpsat respectively
in the Bond Election to be held in the City of Dania, Florida on
the 7th day of September .11.1927 and will endeavor to prevent
fraud, deceit or abuse in conducting same.

The Clerk then read the following resolution;
A RESOLUTION

DECLARING OPEN A TWENTY FOOT ROADWAY ALONG THE WESTERLY LINE OF BLOCK& 2
AND BLOCK 9 ACCORDING TO THE PLAT OF THE OLD TOWN OF DANIA. SAID
ROADWAY EXTENDING IN A NORTHWESTERLY DIRECTION COM ENCING AT THE NORTH
SIDE OF FIRST STREET NORTHWEST AND EXTENDING TO THE NORTH SIDE OF THIRD
STREET NORTHWEST.
Whereas, it is evident from the plat of the old town of Dania, as
recorded in the public records of Brotrard County Florida; that it was
the intention of the original subdividers of the property which now
composes the City of Dania, Florida, that a twenty foot roadway be an
open street from the north side of First Street northwest to the north
side of Third Street Northwest, and
Whereas, the City Council of the City of Dania, Florida deem it
necessary and provident for the welfare; fire protection,' and general
progress of the city that said roadway be declared an open street and
so maintained, and
Whereas, said roadway has been in existence and used by the public
for a great nifmber of years.
Now Therefore, be it mytxtsNa resolved by the City Council of the
City of Dania Florida,
Section 1. That the roadway twenty feet in width, commencing at
the north side of First Street Northwest and extending in a northwesterly
direction along the westerly line of Block 2 and Block 9 of the Town
of Dania, to a point on the north side of Third Street Northwest, be,
and said roadway is declared hereby an open street within the City of
Dania, Florida, and the City Manager is empowered and directed hereby to
promulgate and take all necessary proceedings for the opening, and for
the restraining of obstruction of said street by any person, firm,
association or corporation whomsoever.
Section 2. All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict
herewith are repealed hereby.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect and be in force from

Councilman Barnett made a motion that the resolution be adopted
as read. The motion was seconded by councilman Tubbs and upon being
put to a vote was carried as follows:
