HomeMy WebLinkAbout97011 - MINUTES - City Commission MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DIV IA FLORIDA HELD THURSDAY JANUARY 6th •A.D.1928 at 8 P.M. An adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of Dania r'lorida was held Thursday January 5, 1928 at 8 2.14.in the City Hall pursuant to ajournment of the regular meeting held January 3rd. The following were present: Arthur 0. O 'hea, Mayor John B. Gregory, Councilman J.M.Holding, Councilman F.L.Neville, Councilman O. S.Peok, Councilman Councilman 11,C.Frost was absent from the meeting. The following also were present: Raymond T. Skinner, City Clerk T.D.Ellis, Jr. , City Attorney. 3 Mayor O 'Hea called the meeting to order. The clerk read the minutes of the regular meeting held December 6, 1927 and the adjourned a meetings held on December 9, 12 and 29, 1927, which were approved as read. a Mr. 1.1.1derritt appeared before the council and made. an appeal for more pay for the city firemen. The council took the request under advisement. The clerk read the following bills: Florida Light & Power Co. v456.06 A.F.Harrell, setting up books 100.00 Dania Hardware Co. 1.00 Dania Service Station 7.84 Miami Typewriter Supply Co. 10.00 W.E.Crotty 14. 75 Hall & Gremore 15.55 Southern Bell Tel. & Tel. Co. 15.60 Dania Garage 22.74 'A.H.Wo o ten 5.00 Hollywood Hardware Co. 3.00 Dania Woman's Cihub 15.00 LaBree Electrical Co. 37.95 Total 656. 54 Councilman Peck Mad e a motion that the bills be approved and paid. The motion was seconded by Councilman Holding and upon being put to a vote of the council was unanimously carried. Mayor O'Hea appointed Councilmen Gregory and Peck as a committee to determine what improvements should be made in the cemetery and Councilmen Neville and Holding as a committee to inspect the beach property and determine what improvements should be made there. Councilman Gregory made a motion that the City Manager be instructed to advertise for bids for cement concrete sidewalks on the Dixie Highway from Sheridan street to Bess Garage and for one block east and west of the Dixie in the same territory. The motion was seconded by Councilman Holding and upon being put to a vote of the ? council was adopted unanimously. The City Clerk then read the following letter: Nov.12, 1927 Honorable City Council, Dania, Fla. Gentlemen: Because of my inability to be in attendance at your meetings which is caused by other dutues, I hereby tender my resignation to take effect immediately. respectfully IS.C.Frost Councilman Gregory made a motion that the resignation of Mr. frost r1 be accepted. The motion was seconded by Councilman Peck and upon being put to a vote was unanimously adopted. Mayor O 'Hea then appointed Councilman Peck a committee of one to interview Thomas it. Brown to ascertain if he would serve if appod�nted to fill the vacancy of Mr. Frost. Mr. L.O.Hansen, tax assessor for the City of Hollywood appeared before the council and said that it would require about two months work to assess the property in the City of Dania and thst the ` roll had to be prepared before the first meeting in July when the council site as an equalisation board. Councilman Neville made a motion that council adjourn to meet again Saturday January 14, 1928. ine motion was seconded by Councilman Peck and upon being put to a vote was unanimously carried.
