HomeMy WebLinkAbout97023 - MINUTES - City Commission ',:IRUTHS OF THE, MEETIIIG OF TIHI CITY COUINCIL OF THE CITY OF Dlid_TA FLORIDA HELD LIOUDAY A RIL 2nd I.D.1928 III THE CITY HILL A meeting of the City Council of the City of Dania Florida was held Monday April 2 , _^..D.1928 at 7:30 1.1;:. in the City hall pursuant to adjournment of the meeting held i,:ondey March 26, 1928. The following were present: 4 Arthur C. O 'Hoa, mayor John B. Gregory, Councilman. T.R.Brown, Councilman J.M.Holding, Councilman F.L.Neville, Councilman. Councilman O. S.Peck was absent from the meeting. The following also were present: Raymond T. Skinner, City Clerk T.D.Ellis, Jr. ,City Attorney. Liayor C 'Hea called the meeting to order. 67illiem Eitler representing the Shrine committee on decorations appeared before the council and introduced Harry Lewis official decorator for the Shrine Convention. Mr. Lewis explained the cost of decorations and various forms. The council decided that streamers ' across the Dixie Highway from the Bridge to the school would be appropriate. Councilman Holding made a motion that the City spend r500.00 in decorating the City end that this amount be paid to Harry Lewis for decorations. The motion was seconded by Councilman Neville and upon being put to a vote was unanimously carried. Liayor O 'Hea then appointed a committee composed of Councilmen Neville, Holding and Brown to meet with Mr. Lewis and the City Manager the next afternoon to select locations for the decorations. The City Lianager reported that Mr. R.L. Cook had agreed to remove ell trees and stumps from the path of the new sidewalks on Eirst avenue for 06,00 each. Councilman Brown made a motion that the City Manager be authorized to enter into a contract with Lir.• Cook for doing this work. The motion was seconded by Councilman Neville and upon being put to a vote was unanimously carried. Councilman Heville made a motion that the City Siren be blown for two minutes at 5 o 'clock Easter morning to awaken the people for the sunrise services at the beach. The motion vies seconded by Councilman Gregory and unanimously carried. The cleric then read 13an two resolutions to renew notes at the Dania Bank & Trust Co. which are as follows: A RESOLUTION _/.UTHORI3IIIG THE MIYOR IND CITY CLERZ OF THE CITY OF DII IA FIORIDA TO EXECUTE I HEITZ-7AL NOTE OF THE CITY OF DI17IA IN THE Ai:IOUNT OF FIVE MUSIM DOLLIRS( y5,000.00 ) TO DANII B11TD & TRUST COMPINY BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Dania, Florida: Section I. That the I,Iayor and City Cleric be and they are hereby authorized and directed to execute a renewal note of the City of Dania Florida, in the .:mount of Five Thousand Dollars UZ,000.00) to the Dania Bank & Trust Company, payable ninety days after date, in order to renew the note of the City of Dania, Florida, in said sum dated December 30th, 1927 , due and payable to said Dania Bank & Trust Company on 1,11:rch 30th, 19C 8. °- Section 2. All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are repealed hereby. i Section 3. This resolution shall take effect from z.nd after its passage and adoption and its approval by the mayor. Councilman Brown seconded the motion and upon being put to a vote of council the resolutions were adopted unanimously. Councilman Holding made a motion th6t the City purchase a large meter and hfive it installed on the Dania Beach Hotel. The motion- vivo seconded by Councilman Gregory and unanimously adopted by council. Councilman Brown made a motion that the city council accept the sidewc.lks installed by Christian & Leffel and pay the final estimate amounting to ';1 ,272.14. " " 7 12.00 Councilman Neville made a motion that the billd be approved and ordered paid. The motion was seconded by Councilman Brown and unanimously approved by vote of council. The City Clerk submitted his monthly financial statement which is hereto attached. Councilman Neville made a motion tom adjourn.
