Mayor OHea called the meeting to order Councilman Holding made a motion that the City Attorney write a letter to the City National Bank. of Miami thanking the bank for its services in offering to extend the city of Dania a loan. The motion was 'seconded by Councilman Gregory and unanimously carried. The City Clerk read the following letters from the City Engineer: Hon. L"yor and City Council , Dania Fla. Gentlemen: Lt the request of your City L'anager, I,,r. Raymond T. Skinner, we examined the site of the pronosed Casino at the Beach and have the honor to submit the following re-,:ort for your consideration. We deem it inadvisable atk this time to construct a Casino or otherwise expend any considerable sum of money on your property. An examination of the Beach shows that no adequate protection has been provided for. In the event of another hurricane or even a heavy blow from the Southeast accompanied by a spring tide, any improvement that you had made might be destroyed. Now it is our understanding that the Hollywood Company has s permit for and proposes to erect groins as a means of protecting for the Beach in this vicinity: and these groins may cause such changes in the location of the highs: water mark, and even the elevation of that portion of the Beach at present above the high water mark, that would render a site ` , selected under present conditions far less desirable than one which could Ebe selected after the effects of the improvement had been observed. We would respectfully reccommend therefore, that the construction of the casino be deferred until such time as these groins are actually constructed. It would then be appropriate to consider the building of the Casino without chance of loss or damade by action of the sind and sea. Respectfully, Charlton & Davis, City engineers By. J.P.Charlton. Hon. L;ayor and City Council , Dania, Fla. Gentlemen: The attached rough sketch shows the discrepancy which will arise when sidewalks are built on S.':1. Third St. South of this street, the property was not subdivided into numbered lots, but was described by metes and bounds for each separate tract. The total amount in the description is 720 feet, but 725 feet is actually claimed and occupied by the owners of the several lots. 3.1,1.3rd street is supposed to be forty six feet wide but there is room for only 41 feet if the amount of frontage claimed by the lot owners is left. Je would respectfully recommend that the street be built forty one feet wide at the Dixie intersection and it will gradullly widen out west of the Dixie. k- '.' This will save your honorable body from being involved in any possible litigt, tion that may prise, Forty-one feet will alloy tWO five foot sidewalks vnd leave thirty-one feet for roadway, which is ample for this street in our opinion. We have held up staking these sidewalks until ere could learn your pleasure in the matter. Verb respfctfully Chcrleton & Davis By J.P.Charleton.
