'Thompson, Imperial Oil Co, np_ geared before the council on behalf of Fred Perry and requested per- mission to build a bulk storage gasoline Hanson & Nelson Sub station on Lots 5-e, 1311t G, , as so n as material was available. After dis- cussion Pire Chief Brook was asked his opinion. He stated that if the tanks were put in underground, he saw no ob;ectfon to a station of this type. Councilman Ryan moved to take the recommendation of 1•'ire Chief brook rather than have bulk storage with tanks above ground. },lotion died for want of' a second. Tabled until all members of the council were present. Luther Spar knan reported that he had talked to a representative of the colored Chamber of Commerce, and that they were desirous of obtaining some land for a park and playground west of the canning plant. Luther Sparkman was authorized to investigate the possibility of such a park and contact the colored Chamber bf commerce. ,a Discussed the washing away of beach; after discussion Crnrncilman Ryansmoved thatlisomethin etc. at te north end of Dania i protect this area; seconded by uouncilmar Parkhurst and carried.done to Mayor r'rost appointed uouncilmar Parkhurst to work with himself and irir. Spark- man on this matter. E. Klatt presented a petition signed by E. C. Edge, E. Klatt, 14, M• Sullivan, J. M. Holding, 13, g, Robinson, 1'i. F. Maier requesting that Blocks 24 and 25, Town of Dania, on the highway be rezoned from B residence to B business. Tabled until the rest of the property owners were contacted. R. A• Willey, owner of'the liftchir_g Post trailer cam appeared the council in reference to the :ordinance Pso tr before Mr. 1M1'illey stated that he was making arrangementsttoghavec concrete rfloors � and to have the porches tied down, and requested, in view of the shortage of material and houses, that the porches be allowed to remain until such time as material was more plentiful. Tabled until all members of the council were present. 14alcolm holding, reported that lie had Just completed bulldozing the city dump and that it was in a very unhealthy and unsanitary condition due to the dumping of chicken entrails and refuse, Mr. Sparkman eras in- structed to contact the party dumping this refuse and request that this Practice cease or action would be taken to stop it. FA letter was read from bAr•e Chief Brook which called attention to growth of palmetto and scrub located in the S19 section of Dania from ` SIV 3rd St. , south to the old bixie highway from the railroad east to the ends of 5.Vo*. 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8t-h sts. After discussion,tt was recommended that a fire break right of way be cut from SW 3rd St. to 'the old Dixie highway for':firefighting purposes east of the railroad. r The Clerk reported that some one had come in to .pay taxis on lots " 5 and 6, block 13 Hansen & Nelson Sub and that a house was included in }p' the assessmentp but had blov:n away in the 1926 hurricane.
