Minutes of meeting held Monday, January 21 and
Friday, January 25 read, approved as read and ordered ad-
opted.
The Owner of the Columbus Court, A. N. Ruark,
came before the Council in regard to permit for a trailer
park at the Columbus Court. After discussion, he was
informed that trailers were not permitted in this area
as it was against the zoning code.
Mr. Heath came before the Council and requested
a permit to build a Helpy-Selfy laundry in Resident C
area located in Eskildson's Addition, Block 2. After dis-
cussion, he was informed that a permit could not be granted
due to the fact that there were no facilities for dis-
posing of the waste water.
Mr. Campbell came before the Council and pre-
sented andapronerAnd a proposed plat for a subdivision
subdividing the East half of the Northwest quarter of the
Northwest quarter and the wrest half of the northeast
quarter of the northwest quarter, Section 34-50-42.
After viewing the plat, the Council approved the proposed
plat and agreed to approve a correct plat when presented
to them in the proper form for their approval.
Mr. Becker bame before the Council and requested
a lease on a portion of the beach park for a concession.
Mr. Becker was informed that the council was now consider-
ing a proposal from a private concern for the building of
a recreation park on the beach, and that if this fell
through, that his application for a concession on the beach
would be considered.
Bill Hill came before the council in regard to
cleaning up the city with a tractor. He agreed to knock
down the heavy growth for �%.00 per hour furnishing his
machine, labor and fuel using the city cutter.- After dis-.
cussion the matter was tabled for further investigation.
Maxie Gould came before the Council in regard
to the beach park proposition. He promised to give a
written proposition to Mr. Frost before the next council
meeting. He also }reported on the change in zoning in
Dania Heights, Lots 1, 2 and 3 from A resident Area to
" BP- resident area. He reported that he had contacted Mr.
Frost and Mr. Parker and that they had agreed to have
the zohing changed. Mr. Gould was instructed to obtain
a letter from Mr. Frost and Mr. Parker in regard to this
Toning.
Mayor Brooke reported that the building code
should be revised and indexed and that he recommended that
a committee of contractors and city inspector�be appointed
to do this work. He appointed Cyrus Lee, Chairman, of this
committee, E. S. Tubbs and Jake Crouch and Paul Heckert
a as committeemen. Councilman Ryan moved that the Mayor's
_ appointment of a building code conmiittee be approved.
Seconded by Councilman LaBree and carried.
Councilman LaBree reported on trailer parks.
He reported that the committee had inspected the trailer
parks with Dr. Johns and they had found the sanitary facil-
ities were in proper order, however, some of the trailers
r�:
were too close together at the Adirondack Tourist Court
and that Mr. Johns had ordered this corrected. It was al-
so reported that some of the trailers had temporary porches
added to them and the committee recommended that an ordi-
nance be passed to prever_t temporary porches being added
to trailers. After discussion, the matter was referred
to the building code committee to draw up the proper ordi-
nance, prohibiting temporary porches being added to trailers.
The Mayor was instructed to contact Attorney Ellis
in regard to drawing up an ordinance preventing trailer
porches on trailers, and to have the police department pre-
vent any further porches being built until such time as
the ordinance could be considered.
Councilman LaBree reported that Mr. Eisle was
in the city and that he had his plans nearly completed
for the building of his dock and concessions on the beach
and that within the next two weeks, that he would have a
definite proposition to offer the city.
Fire Chief Brook came before the council and re-
quested that an ordinance be passed for fire prevention
and suggested that an ordinance recommended by the under-
writer's association be passed in full with an ordinance
passed by the City of Hollywood passed in part, to cover
fire inspection and control. After discussion, Fire Chief
Brook was instructed to have the ordinance drawn and pre-
sent it to the council at its next meeting. Chief Brook
also requested permission to build a hose drying rack on
city property for the purpose of washing and drying hose.
He was requested to get an estimate of cost. The Clerk
presented an application for transfer of wine and beer
license from Bert Van Riper and Walter Cober to Harry G.
Parsons (Beacon Inn) . Councilman Frost moved that trans-
fer be granted. Seconded by Councilman Parkhurst and
carried.
The Clerk presented application for an animal
show from Mr. Hilton. After discussion, councilman LaBree
moved that application be denied. Seconded by council-
man Frost and carried.
Meeting was recessed until a later date.
