Meeting was called to order by Mayor Brooke at 7:30 p.m.
Minutes of meeting held Monday, January 7, read, approved
as read and ordered adopted.
Councilman LaBree reported on the street location thropgh-
Mrs. Campbell's property. He reported that the right of way
as shown on the plat book, was on the section line. After dis-
cussion no action taken. A
Mayor Brooke read a letter from Representative Dwight Rogers ��1 /
in regard to the water project.
Earl Bartlett came before the council in regard to property
that he owned in Woodhaven and asked for a reduction in taxes.
The Clerk reported that the same reduction had been granted
's him as all other delinquent tax payers. After discussion, no
action taken.
F Mrs. Holding came before the council in regard to a boy's
Scout and girl's Scout camp. She requested that the council
build a permanent camp in some definite location as a memorial
t for the boy and girl scouts. After discussion Mayor Brooke
agreed to investigate further, into the project.
Mrs. Klatt came before the council in regard to right of
way for a street through Mrs. Campbell' s tourist camp in order
that she might have entrance to their farm. After discussion,
it was agreed that the street should be built on the right of
way along the Navy yard fence and Mrs . Campbell agreed to let
them use the entrance along the fence, which Mr. Klatt and
Mr. Francis agreed to put in passable condition.
Leo Schanchey came before the council and requested permis-
sion to build a stand. He was informed that if the stand was
in the proper location and built according to the city codes,
that he would be granted permission to build a stand.
The Clerk reported that Mr. Foster and Mr. Bradford had com-
plained about chickens being kept by Mrs . Wileon on property in
Dania Heights Extension that was in Residence A area. Tabled
until a later date.
A letter was read from J. C. Hansell making application for
position as traffic officer at the school house during school
periods. Councilman Parkhurst recommended that the Police De-
partment take over the traffic duties at the school as an addi-
tional police officer was to be added, and he felt sure that
with the three police officers on duty, that they would be able
to take care of the duties at the school house. After discus-
sion, tabled until a later date.
Councilman Parkhurst reported that the Fire Department had
several lockers in the fireman's quarters upstairs which were
in the way and:.not being used by the Fire Department, and rec-
ommended that they be given to the school for the Athletic De-
partment. Councilman Parkhurst moved that the Fire Department
lockers be given to the school; seconded by Councilman LaBree
and carried.
Councilman Parkhurst reported that the Volunteer Fire De-
partment had requested the use of the city park for a carnival
for the Volunteer fire department's fund, and had also re-
quested that the city waive any license fees that might be due
the City from the operation of the carnival. After discussion,
Councilman Parkhurst moved that the volunteer Fire Department
