Meeting was called to order by Mayor Brooke at 8:00 o'clock.
Minutes of meeting held December 4 and loth were mead.
Councilman Ryan recommended that the minutes be amended to
read that a committee of the vounty Commissioners and !the
City Commissioners with Mr. J. M. Bryant, met with Mr. Commo-
dore A. H. Brook and made a gentlemen's agreement that the
park donated by A. H. Brook be used for recreational purposes
and no other, and that no sign or other business be placed up-
on the property.
Councilman LaBree recommended that the minutes be changed
to read that Mr. Clark had not offered to grant right of way
for the new street through his property. Minutes corrected,
approved as corrected and ordered adopted.
Mr. vampbell came before the Council and inquired about
the street to be built, and where it would be built, going
through Mrs. uampbell's property, north of the canal. After
discussion, referred to the street committee. The Mayor
recommended that all street improvements be paid for by prop-
erty owners of adjoining property. Referred to the street
committee.
Mrs. vampbell came before the Council and requested a
permit to erect a trailer park on her property, south of the
airport, and west of the railroad track. Councilman Ryan
moved that Mrs. r'lorence vampbell be granted permission to
erect a trailer park. seconded by vouncilman LaBree and car-
ried.
Mr. Neville, County Commissioner came before the Council
and reported on his trip to Tallahassee. He reported that
the Danis beach Road would be paved when the engineering work
could be done, and that as the otate Koad Department did not
allow enough for engineering fees to obtain a crew at the
present time, that the County vommissioners had agreed to
pay the amount. in excess of that allowed by the Road Depart-
ment in order to have this work done. tie reported that there
had been no definite action taken in regard to the Federal
Highway and that the board was undecided as to where the road
would be placed.
The Clerk presented an application for night club by
Walter savage for the nolora Bar. After a discussion, Councilman
Ryan moved that the ordinance as passed be enforced and that
Mr. Savages' application be rejected, because it is in the
wrong location as allowed by the ordinance. Motion seconded
by vouncilman Parkhurst and carried.
Mr. Labirto came before the council and offered a propo-
sition to collect and haul garbage to an incinerator being
established by him. After discussion the matter was turned
over to the Street and Sanitation vommittee.
Mr. John ttotther came before the Council in regard to
the. concession of life rafts, umbrellas, etc-, on the beach.
.Y Mr. Rotther was informed by the Council that they had had a
similar proposition which would come up in a short time for
discussion. After they had discussed the matter, they wm uld
discuss further with Mms obtaining a concession.

Mr. Duffy came before the Council and requested a
parking space for a loading zone in front of his furniture store,
on north Federal highway. Mr. Duffy was informed that within a
short time the city would remark the parking spaces along the
Federal and that he would pe granted a loading zone at that time.
Councilman Parkhurst moved that Mr. Godwin's bid on
painting the sign at the yacht basin be approved. Seconded by
Councilman Frost and carried.
Councilman Ryan reported on the financial status of
the city. He reported that approximately 52% of the 1945 tax
roll had been collected. He recommended that a stricter assess-
ment of personal taxes be placed on the 1946 tax roll, and sug-
gested that the city obtain Mr. L. O.. Hansen, County Tax Assessor
to make up the personal tax roll for the city and pay him a fee '
for his services.
Mr. LaBree reported that he had a letter from Mr.
Eisler in regard to the building of the docks and yacht basin
at the Dania reach, and that he would have a full report to
make within a short time on this project.
At this time the Council called a meeting for Fri-
day night, December 211 to meet with Mr. Utah to discuss the
improvements on the Dania Beach.
The Council discussed salary paid to Herschel Kil-
patrick. Councilman Parkhurst moved that Herschel Kilpatrick
be paid 85� per hour. Seconded by Councilman Frost and carried.
The Clerk reported that Tom Turner had obtained a
liquor license for which he had paid $500 and that the State
Beverage Department had refused to grant state and county
license to Tom Turner, The Clerk requested permission to re-
fund $500 to Tom Turner. uouncilman Parkhurst moved that $500
liquor license be refunded to Tom Turner. Seconded by Council-
man Frost and carried.
The Clerk reported that in order to supply water to
the new project in Modello Park where they were to build 19
buildings, it would be necessary to run a 2" pipe through this
property, and requested permission to purchase the pipe.
Councilman Frost moved that the Clerk be authorized to lay a
2" pipe to Modello Park at the present time and to lay a 4"
pipe line, if the pipe is obtainable. Seconded by Councilman
Parkhurst and carried.
The Clerk reported that the extension telephone in
the fireman's quarters was only in one apartment and that
George Land had requested that the telephone be placed in
his apartment. After discussion, Councilman Parkhurst moved
that a telephone be placed in each apartment. Seconded by
Councilman Ryan and carried.
The Clerk reported several instances where 1945 taxes
had been paid twice and requested permission to refund one pay-
ment. Councilman Ryan moved that the clerk be instructed to
make refunds on taxes where they were paid twice on tar same
piece of property. Seconded by Councilman Parkhurst and car-
ried.
Councilman Parkhurst reported that he had not been
able to obtain a second electric stove for the fireman's ap-
artment and requested that he be allowed to purchase gas
stoves And have gas piped to the fire station for the fireman's
quarters. Councilman Parkhurst moved that the city sell the
electric stove in the fireman's quarters and obtain two gas
stoves, one for each apartment, and to have gas piped to the
fire station. Seconded by Councilman LaBree and carried.
Meeting was recessed until a later date.
