Mullikin Meeting was called to order by Mayor brooke at 7:30 p.m. Minutes of meeting held December 3, 1945 read, approved as read and ordered adopted. Mr. Ely came before the Council and requested that he be granted a license for an antique shop in Block A, Park Hill Subdivision. He reported that he bought the property after being informed that he could obtain a license for an antique shop in this location, but when he applied for a license he was told he was in the wrong location to E be granted a license for retail business, and requested he be given a special license to operate in this location, or that the zoning be changed. After discussion, councilman Parkhurst moved that the Attorney be instructed to draw up an ordinance rezoning block A. nark Hill Subdivision, from b resident area to B business area. Seconded by Councilman Ryan and carried. councilman Ryan moved that first and second readings of ordinance be IvAived And'brdinance be placed in final passage. becanded by uouncilman LaBree and carried. councilman Labree moved that ordinance be passed and adopted as read. Seconded by Councilman Frost and carried. Councilman Ryan reported that Mr. Morris had spent considerable money in repairing and remodeling the old Banyan tavernfibr,a night club and they had changed the name from the banyan to the ueorgian. Councilman Ryan recommended that an ordinance be passed for a night club allowing Mr. Morris to operate until 4:00 a.m., at an addi- tional license cost of 4200 per year. After a discussion, an ordinance was read defining night clubs and setting the location_ for which the night clubs could operate; also a license for night clubs and for closing hours. Councilman Labree moved that first and second readings of ordinance be waived, and that ordinance be placed in final passage. seconded by Councilman Hyan and carried. Councilman rark- f hurst moved that ordinance be passed and adopted as read. r seconded by Councilman Ryan and carried. Mrs. r•lorence Campbell came berore' the Council and requested that she be given permission to place a sign in the north city park, directing traffic to her trailer r ' camp. Mrs. Campbell was notified that this property was given to the city by uommodore brook, with the understanding ?' that it was to be used for park purposes only, and the Coun- cil felt that it had no right to give permission for a sign to be placed in the park without the permission of Commodore Brook. She was informed that if Commodore Brook would grant her permission, the Council would reconsider her request for a sign. Councilman Labree reported that a road was needed through Mrs. Campbell's property to give inlet and outlet to property owners west of her property, and that right of way had been offered to Mr. Clark and Mrs. uampbell for the change in location of a street now laid out, and recommended that a new street be built in a new location. After discus- sion the matter was referred to the street department for recommendations. uapt. Dillon, a charter boat operator came before the council and requested that the city place a sign. at the yacht basin advertising charter boats and boating faci- lities at the yacht basin. After discussion, Councilman Parkhurst moved that the city move the sign donated to them by Major Bailey, paint "city Yacht basin" on the sign, with space left on the bottom for charter boat owners to place their signs on this board. beconded by Councilman Frost and carried. uouncilman Trost was authorized to have the sign painted and the city crew to move the dign. Mayor Brooke reported on parking on the r'ederal Highway one block north and one block south of the stop- light on the west side of the street. He recommended that this parking be changed from angle parking to parallel parking and that the parking spaces be repainted. 111he Clerk was instructed to contact the ufty Manager of Hollywood in re- gard to a zone marking machine to do this work. Councilman Parkhurst reported that the Fire De- partment had several major fires during the past month and that they were hampered in fire fighting due to shortage of 2J" hose, and recommended that 1000 ft. of new 2J�" fire hose be purchased. Councilman irrost moved that 1000 ft. of new 2J" double jacket fire hose be purphased. Seconded by Councilman Parkhurst and carried. Mayor Brooke presented a check in the amcunt of $5 to the city council from the Dania Woman's Club for aid in putting on the community Christmas tree. Mayor Brooke recommended that the check be turned over to Pire Chief Brook as chairman of the volunteer fire department Christ- mas tree arrangements and the Clerk acknowledge receipt of the check to the Woman's Club. The Clerk was instructed to acknowledge check from the Dania Woman's Club. Fire chief Brook came before the Council and an- nounced that the volunteer fire department, within the near future, was going to put on a barbeque for the purpose of obtaining funds to purchase new equipment, and asked the Council for permission to use the City park to put on the Barbeque. Permission was granted to the volunteer fire De- partment to use the city park for barbeque purposes. The Clerk reported that Police Officer Robinson had offered the uity $50 for the old garbage truck which was obsolete and useless to the city. councilman Ryan moved that the clerk be instructed to sell the truck to Mr. hobin- son for $50. Seconded by Councilman Parkhurst and carried The Clerk reported that arrangements with the Hollywood ro- lice Department in regard to radio service had been $10 each month and that Leroy Person.was to be paid $5 per month for his service. The Clerk requested that he be given the F authority to make up these checks the first of each month, along with the monthly pay checks, and that the city now owed'Mr. Person $10 for services forwhich he had not been paid. Councilman Ryan moved that the Clerk be instructed to pay the Hollywood Police Department $10 each month, and Leroy Person $5 each month, for police radio service, and that Leroy Person be paid $10 for payment now due. Motion f,. seconded by Councilman Parkhurst and carried. The Clerk presented application for liquor license -'' for Therese Lauder for Le Cordon Blau restaurant. uouncil- man Ryan moved that license be granted. Seconded by Council- man Trost and carried. The Clerk presented an application for transfer of wine and beer license for Tom Turner to Rosetta Allen. Councilman Ryan moved that transfer be granted. Seconded by Councilman Laltree and carried.
