Meeting was called to order by. Mayor Kelly at 7:00 p.m.
The Clerk reported that the street at the beach had been cleaned
off but that the oil was very shallow in several places and that
there were one or two holes in the north street that needed repairing.
The Cleric recommended that these streets be oiled in order to pre-
serve them. Councilman Ryan moved that the Cleric be instructed to
have the road at the beach repaired; that S. P. Snyder and Son, Con-
tractor could do the work if they had the time to do it,, otherwise,
to contact other contractors . Seconded by Councilman Isrooke and
carried.
A resolution was read calling a primary election to be held
on Tuesday, October 16, 1945. Councilman Parkhurst moved that the
resolution be passed and adopted as read. Seconded by Councilman
.Brooke and carried.
Councilman Ryan moved that block Cab Co. be granted a certificate
of public convenience and necessity for taro taxi cabs. Notion sec-
onded by Uouncilman Parkhurst. l:r. hyan stated that the reasons for
introducing the motion to grant the Block Cab Co. taxi cabs was:
1. The people that went out, of town were overcharged &r the
present taxi cab service. '
2. That there were cabs used and operated that did not have
cab license and insurance.
3. That he had had complaints on the hotel managed by the oper-
ators of the present cab company.
Upon vote, the councilmen voted as follows :

Ir. Brooke, Aye
Mr. Ryan, Aye
Mr. Parker, No.
�- Mr. Kelly, Ho.
A resolution was read granting a certificate of public conven-
ience and necessity to the Block Cab. Co. for two taxi cabs. Council-
men Brooke moved that the resolution be pissed and adopted as read.
Motion seconded by Councilman Parkhurst and carried.
An ordinance was read amending taxi ordinance establishing rates
for transportation of domestic help. Councilman Ryan moved. that first
and second readings be waived, and that ordinance be placed in final
passage. Seconded by Councilman Parker and carried. Councilman Park-
hurst moved that ordinance be passed and adopted as read: Motion
seconded by Councilman Brooke and carried.
The Clerk reported that Mr. Eckles, iced ':Iagon. `„heel Barbeque
stand had applied for and been granted, a license for a bar room,
however, at this time he did not wish to take out the bar room
license, but had requested that he oe granted license for beer and
wine in its place. Councilman liyan moved that 11r. 1 ckles be gbante' d
