'The L`eeting was called to order by Mayor Kelly at 8:00 p.m.
L:inutes of' Leetings held during the month of August read,
approved as read and ordered adopted.
A letter pia- read from Joseph S. Gaybica, Jr. , of Brook-
lyn, requesting a franchise for beach concession. Tabled for
later discussion.
A letter vas read from Clayton B. Roberts, malting ap-
plication to operate three taxi Cabs within the City of Dania.
Tabled for further consideration and the adoption of an ordi-
nance regulating taxi service within the city.
Mr. Fiilliam Block made application for taxi cab service
in the City! of Dania, tabled pending adoption of taxi cab ordi-
nUnce.
City Cleric presented application for liquor license
for Robert Houston at the Beacon Inn. Councilman Parkhurst
moved that license be granted, seconded b, councilman Brooke
anal carried.
The Clerk presented an application for liquor license
for iilliam Germain, South Federal Highway. Councilmen Ryan
moved that license be granted, motion was seconded by Council-
man Parkhurst and carried.
The Cleric presented an application for .liquor license
for Eckhles, lied l",agon 17heel Barbecue Stand, North Federal
Highway. Councilman Crooke moved that license be grar!ted;
I:otion seconded by Councilman Parker end carried.
Clerk presented application for Walter T. Savage, Bolora
Bar, ,rest Beach Boulevard. itfter discussion and intercession
by I:r. Savage, Councilman Brooke moved that license be granted,
subiect to the condition and arreemer.t made to the Council by
Yr. Savage, that there would qe no personal drur>keness, and
that the business would be operated in a business-like manner
and that if there is personal drunkeness on the part of 1r.
Savage, the license is to be irmnediately revolted. L:otion
seconded by Councilman Parkhurst and carried.
i,,r. H. H. Morris of the Dania Bar came before the Council
ana requested that the closing• of the barrooms be set b;, the
Council.; tabled for a later date.
L:a;;or Kelly brought before the Council, sketches of
proposed City limit signs to be placed on the Federal Righway
at the north and south City linuts . i,:r. Gillette agreed-to
f ? make the signs for ,li55 each. Councilman Parkhurst moved that
the signs be authorized to be made if Suitable locations can
be obtained. L:otion seconded b,; Councilman Brooke and carried.
Councilmen Parl;hurgt ad urooke were appointed rs a committee
^' to serve vrith i,:r. Gillette to out-ain suitable locations for
the signs.
t'etition was read i'rom property oi:rners requesting that
the alley between S., . 12th and 13th :Its. , botween 2nd and 3rd
Avenues, be opened, so that garbage trucks could pick up Gar-
bage and trash from the. rear of the lots instead of the i'vont.
The cleric was instructed to investij;ate and r;a];e recommenda-
tions to the Council.
Fire Chief Brook came before the Council and reported
r_ fire at the Hitching Post Trailer Park, caused b; a v,ater
heater placed in a closet without proper ventilation, i.mproperl;;
installed. The owners of• trio hitcliinU, Post, after being re-
quested to make corrections ar_d properly install the heater,
placed the Beater back in the same position it was before the
fire, and requested the Council to pcss nn ordirnree t-l�et would
force proper 'u'sl.ull area or water heaters and other heating
devices . Lire Cliief' Jvoolc was instructed to talce this matter
up with the State Hotel Comriission.
The Clerk i•eport,ed that It. If. Anderson had made appli-
cation for a fillin;r station and vault manufacturing plant to
be located at south Federal HiC•lrway, subdivision of Dixie t7ay;
that this property at the present time was a "C" resident
area, and therefore, no manufacturing allowed. The Cleric rec-
ommended that this propert;; be placed in "B" business area
instead, to allow lnzsiness on the east aide of the highway the
same as on the west side of the highwal! in this locality. An
ordinance was read amending the :-toning ordinance allowing "B"
business i'rom the north bounder;; of highland Square to Sheridan
St. I'.otion b;, icyan tht:t first and second readings be waived
and that the ordinance be placed in final passage. Motion
seconded b; Councilman Parldiurst and carried. Councilman moved
that ordinance be passed and adopted as read. i,:otion seconded
by Councilman Brooke r.nd carried. Councilman hyan moved that
license be granted 'It. 11. Anderson f'or a filling station and
concrete vault manufacturing plant. ]lotion seconded by Council-
man Parker and carried.
An ordinance was read amendirZ liquor license ordinance.
Councilman hyan moved that first and second readings be waived
and ordinance be placed in final pt=ssat;e. 61otion seconded by
Councilman Brooke and carried. Councilman Parkhurst moved
that ordinance be passed as read; Llotfon seconded by Councilman
Parker and carried.
