MINUTES OF RECESSED MEETING OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DANIA,FLORIDA ,HELD
FRIDAY,JUNE 29,1945.

Meeting called to order by 2dayor-Pro-Ten Brooke at 8:00 P.M.
The Clerk presented an application for transfer of Wine and
beer License from W.S.Kilpatriek to William A. Germain.
Councilman Ryan moved that license be transferred motion
seconded by Councilman Parkhurst and carried.
Councilman Ryan reported that the Youth Center needed a
paid director and reccomended that Mr. J.F.Smith be hired for
a salary of $500.00 to the first of October,1945.
Councilman Ryan moved that J.F.Smith be employed as
recreational Director for the youth Center till October lst for
a salary of y$500.00 and that Leonard Brooke be appointed as
Committeeman, on the Recreation Committee to regulate the activities
of the Youth Center. Motion seconded by Councilman Parkhurst and,
carried.
Councilman cyan reported that he had investigated and
found out that Ft.Lauderdale and Hollywood were both paying more
than Dania, and reccomended that salaries of laborers be raised to
.75� per hour.
Councilman Ryan moved that wages of laborers be raised to
.750f per hour. Motion seconded by Councilman Parkhurst and carried.
The Clerk weported that he had received a priorities cer-
tificate to purchase a 112 ton truck chasis, Councilman Ryan
moved that the City purchase a 11, ton truck chasis and that the
Street and Sanitation Committee have a body built to suit the
Cities needs, that Councilman Brook be appointed as a committee
of one to investigate where a truck chasis could be purchased,
and that Councilman Brooke be given authority to purchase a truck
chassis if he found one suitable foie the Cities needs. Motion
seconded by Councilman Parkhurst and carried.
Councilman Brooke reported that 'the City Park along the
packing houses was not being used for the reason that the
packing houses and canning Plant was unsightly and reccomended that
a row of trees be planted that would hide the packing houses, he
reported that Mr.N•P.Brook had a considerable number of pine
trees that he was gotng to .dig up and would give to the City if
the city would pay for the transplanting, which he reccomended
be done at this time.
Councilman Parkhurst moved that the City acpepb theopine trees
offered for the park and pay the expense for transplanting them
motion seconded by Councilman Ryan and carried.
