MINUTES OF RECESSED rE'LTING OF THE CITY COUNCIL

Meeting Called to order by Mayor Kelly at 8:00 P.M.
Mr.A.M.LaBree came before the Council and reported that he had tOR
sold a piece' of property North of the Cut Off Canal and west of
F.E.C. Railway Right of way Subject to the City waveing the City
taxes and the use of Streets through the property He reported that
if the deal went through that the property* would be used for a
manafactureing plant employing numerous men and women and would
bring more year round residents to the City.
Mr. Clark of Miami came before the Council and explained that
if the City would waive the City taxes for twenty years and
allow them to close the streets, Which shows closed on Afi a
plat on record in the Court House in Ft.Lauderdale, where this
property was put back in acreage, A Glass blanafacturing Co.
would establish a factory here, That the sand near Dania was
perfect for the Mana,facturing of Glass and that other materials
needed could be obtained locally or were in such small quantities
that transportation would not be objectionable, That water trans-
portation to Port Everglades for Fuel Oil would be a big idem
in getting the Factory. fie Requested that the City waive the tax
for a Period of Twenty Years from the date of Establishing of
the Factory.
Attorney Ellis advised the Council that if there was a record
plat on which the streets were turned back into acreage and
where the City Council had approved the Plat before it was
recorded the City had no claim on the Streets. Ivir.La$ree was
requested to produce a certified copy of this plat for the
City Council.
Councilman Parkhurst Moved that the City waive all City taxes
on that Piece of Property lying North of the Dania Cut Off
Canal and ',Vest of the F.E.0 Railway Rightway on which a
Glass Manafacturing is to be established, Taxes to be waived
for a period of Twenty Years from the date of the completion
and begining of operation of the factory. I-lotion Seconded by

w! The Clerk amiounced that there were Three Councilmen for
and two against whereby the Motion was declared carried.
The Clerk presented an application From Mr A.K.LaBree to
purchase City tax sale Certificates on lot 19 Block 27 town
":. of Dania, Motion By Councilman Ryan that the Clerk be authorize
to sell the certificates motion seconded by Councilman Parker
and carried.

The Clerk Presented a letter from Attorney T.D.Ellis Jr.
in which he enclosed an excerpt of title to lot 5 and the east
2111 of lot 6 Cocoanut Hill, which shows that this property
has been the property of the Episcopal Church since 1906,
Attorney Ellis advised that under the State Statue this property
was not taxable.
Councilman Ryan moved that all City taxes on this property be
waived and outstanding tax sale certificates be cancelledp motion
seconded by Councilman Parker and carried.
Councilman Parker reported that hir. Frost had requested that the
city have the parties that broke his Septic tank drain frori the
the hotel Katherine repair it. Motion by Couihnilman Ryan that
the Mayor and Chief of Police investigate and if the parties
that broke it could not be found that the City ropair it,
Motion seconded by Councilman Brooke and carried.
The Chief of Police presented Morgan H.Stroud and reccomended
that he be hired as Policeman, ILr.Stroud presented several
reccomendatiLrbns to the Council.
Councilman Parkhurst moved that Morgan H.Stroud be employed as
Police Officer at a salary of $150.00 per month and police
court fees of $1.00 for each conviction on which fines are paid
in cashp Motion seconded by Councilman Brooke and carried.
