Advisory Board Meeting
Tuesday,December 18`h, 2007
Chairman Ely called the meeting to order at 6:00 P.M.
Members present:

Others present:
Mark Felicetty, Senior Facilities Manager
Kristen Jones, Director Parks and Recreation
Kurt Ely requested an excused absence for Chip &Julie Brockman motion made by Lisa Drake, seconded by
Jimmy Peterman. Motion carried unanimously.
. Kurt Ely explained that minutes are not ready due to Suzanne's health problems. Kurt Ely stated that minutes
will be put off until January meeting.
Discussion:
Update on Frost Park ADA restrooms: Mark Felicetty informed that the documentation has been issued and
restrooms will open and operating as soon as sports program begins.
Kristen Jones stated that restrooms will open only when there is activity at the park,restrooms will not be open
24/7 all will be organized accordingly with activity and field schedules. Kurt Ely asked if staff will give the key
Kristen Jones replied no, we are not given keys of public facilities.
Kurt Ely asked what the hold to open the restrooms was; Kristen Jones replied that the first problem was to raise
the elevation,by the time the grant was written,restrooms constructed and moved from Fronton Blvd. to the
alley the elevation changed, also Hurricane Wilma came into effect and elevation changed for insurance reasons
also extra funds needed to finish project. Issues with the ADA railings, restrooms problems with hardware on
the doors, problems with the homeless opening the restrooms with butter knives,taking showers, and doing
illegal activities in public places,Mark Felicetty changed all hardware on the doors,restrooms are safe, clean
and ready to go but will not open until there is activity out on the fields.
The following item is not in the Agenda but Kurt Ely requested information about the awnings, Mark Felicetty
spoke to Frank Hill Construction, their ls` set of plans was denied and resubmitted a second plan last
Wednesday and waiting for approval.

• Mark Felicetty, Laser Grade and Re-Sod update:
a. Completed at Frost Park
b. C.W. Thomas Park has been sprayed
c. P.J. Meli will be third
Kurt Ely asked what the Laser Grading will do for the kids out in the field, Kristen Jones answered that the
surfaces will be even and smooth, before it was a trip hazard now it's a beautiful thing. All the parks will have
beautiful fields.
Jimmy Peterman explained issues at C.W. Thomas Park concerning locked gates, lights off, and lack of
communication with Public Works, Kristen Jones told him to contact Director, Dominic Orlando.
Chris Barile questions about vandalism at Griffin Association Offices at Meli Park, Kristen Jones replied that
someone broke into the office and locked the computer and a few items taken from the office.

Chris Barile asked what is going on with surveillance cameras installed at the parks, Mark Felicetty replied that
he has a meeting and tour scheduled with the company who installed Hallandale Beach surveillance cameras,
and Mark Felicetty will provide more information and answer all questions at the next meeting.
Rosalind Curry just entered the meeting room.
Judy Jensen asked where the Parks and Recreation Offices are located; Kristen Jones replied that the offices are
• located at the Nyberg Swanson House.
Kurt Ely requested trailer removal update, Kristen Jones replied that after a failed sale the city will demolish
trailer and she will start the project of building a playground at that site.
Jimmy Peterman explained that for next year programs are expanding with more teams; he requested that Parks
and Recreation look into places to practice he would like to keep the old boys at C.W. Thomas Park and send
the younger kids at another park, Kristen Jones replied that the city has the 3 parks and suggested Meli Park; all
field will laser graded for next year.
Mark Felicetty stated that the date of next meeting is Tuesday 22"a, 2008 board members agreed. (Note:
January 22""is the incorrect date; the next meeting is on Tuesday,January 15'h,2008)
