Members present: Kurt Ely Lisa Drake Chris Barile Sharon Nearn Antonio Williams Members absent: Chip Brockman Julie Brockman Jimmy Peterman J.J.Jensen Beulah Lair Others present: Mark Felicetty,Senior Facilities Manager Suzanne & Bud Witz Minutes of the May&b meeting were presented for approval. Motion to approve with the addition of excused absence for Sharon Nearn and Lisa Drake made by • Chris Barile,seconded by Antonio Williams. Motion carried unanimously. Jimmy Peterman and Beulah Lair had both requested an excused absence for this meeting. Motion to grant excused absences made by Sharon Nearn, seconded by Lisa Drake. Motion carried unanimously. Discussion - Mark Felicetty reported on the various activities taking place in all three parks. He said the ball field netting project is presently underway. C.W.Thomas Park is now complete. Next they will be working at Meli Park and when that is completed,they will move on to Frost Park Also the timer for the field lights at C.W.Thomas Park has been installed and that means an end to receiving calls that BSO didn't turn the lights on or off. Bid posting for the laser grid and resoding for the parks is out. Bids will be received on June 29'b. It's a large project with a budget of$480,000. There is a twelve month window for completion of all three parks so that sports are not interrupted. Replacment and reaiming of field lights at P.J.Meli Park is presently being taken care of by R& R Electric. The project is nearing completion. 1. • There will be a Cruise Night on the beach July 28th. The last Cruise Night was held in April and was very successful. There were over sixty can. Food and beverages were provided by the Beach Watch Restaurant. They did a good job and will provide the same service for the July affair. The windows at the C. W. Thomas building were being installed today. The building is right on schedule and should be completed some time in late August. Fitness equipment,tables,chairs and other furnishings are presently being purchased. Plans for the official opening will be made at a later date. Chairman Ely asked if members had any questions for staff. Chris Barile asked about the restrooms at the beach. Mr.Felicetty said the beach area is no longer under Parks&Rec. It's now under the direction of the Assistant City Manager, Colin Donnelly. He also has the beach lifeguards and the marina. Chairman Ely asked about the Frost Park patio roof. Mr. Felicetty said the project was delayed until July 30th when the summer program for the children is over. Old Business- Chairman Ely said the City Commission had approved the Boards recommendation that fee waiver requests for the parks be reviewed by this Board before being brought to the Commission. It will be the function of the Board to review and recommend that full fee waivers or partial fee waivers be granted or • denied. The next meeting of the Board is scheduled for Tuesday,September 18'h. Chairman Ely mentioned there is a possibility that he may be out of town at that time.He will advise staff when his plans are complete.
