Motion made by Gary Luedkte, seconded by Victor Lohmann to excuse Lottye Crooms. Motion
passed unanimously.
1) LU-05-05: The City of Dania Beach is requesting a land use change from Low (5)
Residential to Recreation and Open Space for the property located north of SW 45th
Street, South of the Dania Cut-off Canal and immediately east of SW 25 Terrace.
Corinne Church, AICP, Principal Planner, addressed the board describing the land
use change. Ms. Church indicated that Broward County purchased this land through
the County bond program for park land acquisition and that the County is giving the
City of Dania Beach this land for use as a park.
Ms. Church further stated that the City of Dania Beach will be making improvements,
as required by the County, with funds available through the Florida Communities
Trust. She stated that improvements to the park include removal of exotic plants,
planting of native plants, construction of pavilions, walking paths, signage and a
fishing platform.
Ms. Church concluded her presentation stating that one of the County's conditions of
the land transfer is to change the City's Future Land Use Map to match county's land
use designation of Recreation and Open Space and that the uses allowed is this land
use category will ensure the land will remain a park. Staff is recommending
approval.
Board discussion regarding the conditions by Broward County. Mr. Leeds described
the parcel and the surrounding conditions.
At this time the item was opened for public comment. Hearing no one and seeing no
one the public hearing was closed.
Motion made by Victor Lohmann seconded by Edward Bourgious to recommend
approval of LU-05-05 Land use change from Low (5) Residential to Recreation and
Open Space. Motion passed on the following roll call:

2) Amendment to the City of Dania Beach Comprehensive Plan's Capital Improvement
Element.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH AMENDING THE CAPITAL
IMPROVEMENTS ELEMENT OF THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN TO IDENTIFY AND
LIST USES FOR LOCAL OPTION GAS TAX REVENUES
Laurence Leeds, AICP, Director of the Community Development Department
addressed the board, describing the request for an amendment to the Capital
Improvement Element of the City's Comprehensive Plan relating to local option of
gas tax revenues. This request was initiated by the City's Finance Director.
At this time the item was opened for public comment. Hearing no one and seeing no
one the public hearing was closed.
Motion made by Gary Luedkte, seconded by Victor Lohmann to recommend
approval the Comprehensive plan amendment to identify and list uses for local
option gas tax revenues. Motion passed on the following roll call:
