HomeMy WebLinkAbout1986-09-02 Planning and Zoning Board Minutes MINUTES DANIA PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 2, 1986 The Chairman of the Board called to order the regular meeting of the Planning and Zoning Board at 7:33 P.M. ROLL CALL Present: Chairman: Sam Calandra Vice Chairman: Howard Blackmon Board Members: Audrey Cassese Gloria Daly Irving Spindel City Attorney: Frank Adler Building Official: Paul Maxwell A motion was made by Audrey Cassese , seconded by Irving Spindel to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of the Planning and Zoning Board of August 5, 1986 . The motion passed unanimously . RECOMMENDATION; SE-59-86 A Special Exception request for supplemental Chuuch parking in an RD-6000 district . Petitioner Sheridan Hill Baptist Church; Owner - Charles McElyea. Property located 338 SW 14th Street . Legally described as Lot 1, less the East 8. 00 feet thereof, Block 19 of "North Hollywood" according to the plat thereof, as recorded in Plat Book 4, page 1 of the Public Records of Broward County, Florida. Mr. Clell Coleman, Associate Pastor of Sheridan Hills Baptist Church was present of behalf of the petition.. Mr. Coleman stated that Sheridan Hills is the. sponsoring Church for the mission that is anticipating becoming estab- lished at the property adjacent to the subject property. The property in question is the old Kentucky Fried Chicken and the vacant lot contiguous to that property is the lot that is to used for the supplemental parking. Mr. Coleman further stated that the nature of the church is such that a large usage of the lot . Mr. Maxwell stated to the board that the basic usage would be for overflow parking. He further stated that the staff recommended that they landscape and put in a hedge along the adjacent property, and trees along SW 4th Ave . and the adjacent property. Mr. Maxwell further stated that they would also be soding the lot with grass so that it would withstand any wear and tear. MINUTES ,SEPTE,MEEK 2� 1986 CONTINUED The Chairman opened the public hearing, hearing no one speak in favor or opposition, the Chairman closed the public hearing. Further discussion ensued with the board members and Mr. Maxwell. Highlights of which entailed the specific number of existing parking spaces . Mr. Coleman offered some clearance as to the need for this supplemental parking. A motion was made by Gloria Daly, seconded by Irving Spi,ndel to recommend approval for SE-59-86, with the stipulation that it be used for overflow parking only and a sign to errected indicating that it for church parking only. The motion passed unanimously. The meeting was then adjourned Any person who diecides to appeal any decision made by the Planning and Zoning Board or the City Commission with respect to any matter considered at this meeting of hearing will need a record of the proceedings , and for such purpose may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
