A USOLU"110N OF 'IHE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DANIA
BEACH, FLORIDA, CREATING THE GRFFN ADVISORY BOARD;
PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT AND TERMS OF MEMBERS, AS
WELL AS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; FARTHER, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE, DATE.
WHEREAS, Section 1 of Article 3, Fart XI of the City Charter authorizes the City
Curmaismar to create advisory boards by resolution, and
WHEREAS, the City Commission has determined that it is advisable to create a Green
Advisory Board to assist the City in identifying and creating policies and action plans that
penam to energy efficiency and help to mitigate the effects of climate changes;
NOW, THF.REFORF., BE IT RESOLVED BY TIIE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the City Commissiun of the City of Dania Beach, Florida establishes
and coarse the Green Advisory Board.
Section2. 'That each City Commissioner is entitled to appoint one (1) member to
such Board from time to time, and each appointee shall serve a term consistent with the duration
of the term of the appointing Commissioner and without compensation at the pleasure of the
City Commission of the City of Dania Beach.
Section 3. That the members of such Board shall not exceed five (5) in number,each
of whom shall have been a resident ul'the City of Dania Beach for a minimum of six (e) months
prior to any such appointment Ad hoc members may be appointed by any City Commissioner.
Such members do not need to meet the residency requirement.
Section q. That the members of such Board shall have experience, expertise or
training in the areas of energy demandside management. LEED or green building standards,
renewable energy technologies or related fields.
Section5. That any member missing th2c (3) consecutive meetings shall
automatically be removed from the Board and replaced in the same manner in which that
member was originally appointed.
Section 6. That such Board shall meet from time to time under tales road regulations
which it may promulgate. At the first meeting of the Board the members shall elect a
chairperson and a vice chairperson.
Section V. That within thirty (30) days of the passage and adoption of this
Resolution, the City Commission, by motion, shall designate and appoint the initial members of
the Bound.
Section g. That the duties and responsibilities of such Board shall be to
(a) afaist City administration in finding green opportunities that would
benefit the City;
(b) develop a "meta of options" implemen+nble by the City, with the goal of
reducing per capita energy consumption in the City. Topics for consideration should include,
but not be limited to energy efficiency standards for new commudion; incentives for energy
efficiency in private sector oemmuotion; land use planning; transportation; renewable energy
options and public education;
(e) examine ways that the City can implement measures to conserve and
protect namml resnumes;
(d) coordinate the activities of The City with those activities of the Tr(mom,
residents and local businesses in order To promote enviromnonml awareness throughout the City;
Net serve as a liaison bctwcen the citizens, residents, neighborhood
associations, local businesses and the City on On momnental issues;
(f) develop recommendations regarding programs which may be created to
enhance environmental awareness within the City;
(g) develop proposed actions, including proposed legislation at the state and
federal level, which may be Taken in support of environmental programs within the City;
(h) identify and advise the City on ways to attmcr state and federal programs
and grams in direct support of environmental programs with the City in conjunction with the
Grant Advisory ➢ eT&
(i) aonmcl businesses and vendurs to provide professional skills, materials,
or educational support for the various environmental programs and initiatives;

(j) Coordinate information and programs with the other established advisory
boards "Elam the City mid
(k) coordinate with appropriate City stffiT regarding parks, upon space and
facilities within the City for utilization of such facilities in promote environmental awareness in
the City.
Section 9. That the chairperson of the Board shall be afforded the opportunity to
request that the City Commission place on its agenda for di.ionnson any recommendatuaw or
suggestions made by lee Board.
Section 10 That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in Conflict with this Resolution
are ropealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 11. That this Resolution shall beinforoo and take ciTeot immedirrob upon its
passage and adoption.
