MINUTES OF MEETING
DANIA BEACH MARINE ADVISORY BOARD
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2008 - 6:00 P.M.
1. Call to Order
Chairman Clive Taylor called the meeting to order at 6:10 p.m.

3. Approval of Minutes of September 17, 2008
Louis Webb motioned to approve the minutes, seconded by Mike Grady. The motion carried
unanimously.
4. Reports and Discussion
4.1 Derelict Vessel Report
Deputy Jason Riddle was not present at this meeting therefore; this item was not discussed.
5. Old Business
Board Member Craig McAdams wanted to discuss the life guards at the City pools but decided
that the City pools are directed by the Parks and Recreation Department. The Marine Advisory
Board Members plan to make arrangements with the Parks and Recreation Board for further
discussion by the next meeting.

6.1 Non-motorized sailboat rental spots on the beach.
This item was not discussed at this meeting.
6.2 Navigational Aid for South Fork River, South of South Road 84
Chairman Taylor reported that the Board discussed the attempt to meet with Frank Hertzhold of
the Marine Industries of South Florida.
The Board also discussed updating Board member information, and the requirements for member
attendance.
6.3 Discussion of F.E.M.A Ordinance Amendment.
Tom Ansbro, City Attorney, discussed the proposed Ordinance changing the F.E.M.A.
Floodplain Regulations for marina uses. He explained that "Marina" means a facility with
access to navigable water that provides moorings or places for storage of boats and may include
associated uses such as repair and service facilities, offices, retail sale of supplies, equipment and
sundries and restaurants. He further noted that a marina may be a principal use of the site upon
which it is located, or it may be an accessory use to a principle residential use.
• Chris Arutt motioned for the description for "Marinas" be revised, seconded by Bernard
Swindell. The motion carried unanimously.
