A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION IN AN ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS
MATCHING GRANT PROGRAM FUNDED THROUGH THE U.S.
DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY FEDERAL EMERGENCY
MANAGEMENT AGENCY; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF ALL
DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO PARTICIPATE IN THE GRANT;
PROVIDING FOR FUNDING; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; FURTHER,
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Dania Beach, Part III, Article 3, Section 4,
Subsection 0), provides that during unusual conditions or emergencies, the City Commission
may, by resolution, authorize the purchase by the City Manager of designated supplies, services,
equipment and materials in amounts in excess of Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00)
without competitive bids and without advertisement for bids; and
WHEREAS, the City of Dania Beach Fire-Rescue Department has the opportunity to
participate in an Assistance to Firefighters matching grant program in order establish a Fire
Prevention education program that, if funded, would deliver fire safety education courses to the
citizens, visitors and businesses within the City of Dania Beach; and
WHEREAS, the grant provides for 90% of the total amount of the purchase to be paid by
the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency with a
balance of 10%to be paid by the City of Dania Beach which will be in the amount of$5,840.00;
and
WHEREAS, the City Manager has determined that it is advantageous for the City of
Dania Beach to participate in this grant;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF DANIA BEACH,FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the City Manager is authorized to apply for the grant for the purposes
identified above.
Section 2. That the City Manager is authorized to execute all documents required by
the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency in order to
receive all equipment purchased under the subject grant.
Section 3. Upon approval of the grant, the Director of Finance is authorized to fund
the required match of the grant and to appropriate the budget accordingly.
Section 4. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution
are repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 5. That this Resolution shall be in force and take effect immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
